Anyone bought a 2007??
I was planning on waiting till next year to pick up the RL for various reasons. However, i'm concerned with the new base trim I won't be able to pick up a tech package for the low 40s with the 2007 models. Has anyone bought a 2007 tech package? Is there any negotiation room on them?
I'm thinking it might be a good idea to pick up a 2006 now with the dealers trying to get them off their lots, but I have to sell it with the better half first. ;-)
Thanks for your input.

2007 RL w/ Tech package
Hey... I walked into the dealership with my father yesterday and helped him finalize a deal on an 07 RL w/ the tech package. Here's our breakdown:
White Pearl with Parchment interior
Tech package
iPod musiclink
Wood Steering Wheel
Wood Shift Knobs
Wheel locks
Total: $48100
Trading in: 2002 Toyota Solara V6 w/ approx 70,000 miles for $7500
They started out around $51500 and seemed very eager to start pushing them out since the first shipment comes in next week. I think their RL sales haven't been the best in the previous years. It might have helped that we've purchased two TL's from them in the past.

I take it this is the tech package with CMBS and PAX?
To the OP: Welcome to Acurazine and thanks for posting. Your thoughts mirror mine as I was considering the purchase of a 2006 RL. I pulled the trigger sooner than I thought I would because I thought I wouldn't be able to get a good deal later on. If the deal above is a tech with CMBS and PAX, that's still not the best deal compared to what people were getting on 2006 RL. If it's the new tech package (e.g. everything but CMBS and PAX), then that's not a great deal and I was correct in buying a 2006 when I did.
If there are 2006s available in your area or nearby metros, they are likely your best bet if you want to save a few bucks.

Burning Brakes
jbrodley, for the '07 at this point it will be hard to get '06 prices, but I think come near spring of '07 you should be seeing similar prices. It all depends on when you need the car. If you need one now get the '06.

People have been paying $43-46k for their new 2006 w/tech package (the 2006 tech package is the equivalent of the 2007 "tech package with CMBS and PAX"). If you go to THIS THREAD, which is stickied at the top of the 2G RL forum main page, you can see what people have paid. The last two pages are mostly recent purchases.
I paid $42.5k for my 2006 non-tech (this is the equivalent of the 2007 "tech package" except without the mp3 port or reverse camera), with protection package and iPod integration. Not the best deal but other parts of the deal made up for it. Many on the East and West coasts have been paying in the neighborhood of $40k for similar cars.
HTH.
