I have an 05 RL w/ 130k on it.
over the past few months these 2 codes randomly come on while I'm driving. when I first noticed it, they were coming on at the same time. I would pull over, turn the car off and back on and they go away.. at first I thought the issue was related between the 2 codes but didn't understand how the Headlights & transmission would be linked...
well just this past week, the AFS code started randomly coming on by itself. If I pull over and turn the car off and back on, it goes away.

this only happens in the day when my DRL's are on, I haven't noticed either code at night when headlights are actually on.

any one have any experience with this??

 

How old is your battery?

 

not sure, it came with the car and I've had it less than a year... I haven't had any issues with the battery but guess I could replace it.

 

+1 (projektvertx) I would start with the battery replacement

 

+2 for the battery

 

Do you have flashing D and AWD light up also? It may be the transmission range switch. I had that symptom and bought the switch but didn't have time to replace, however I did't see it comes back since last 2 months.
