For some reason my photobucket account is not working right now, but I've attached an image from the service manual of where it is. Hope it helps!

OP, did you replace the range switch? Did it correct your issue? I am getting a random error causing the D to flash, AFS to turn off and the CEL to come on. When I restart the CEL will stay on for a few cold starts but it will eventually turn off. I am getting code P1717 which points to the transmission range switch.

Another over due update.

I replaced the range switch and I haven't had this issue since. If you have the exact same problem odds are it is the transmission range switch. Not an expensive repair but be sure they install it properly so you don't get stuck in neutral when trying to shift from drive to park. There is an adjustment for that and most mechanics won't be aware of it. It is easy to adjust but annoying if they don't do it properly. Regardless mine has worked well since it was replaced. No more random flashing lights since I had it replaced.

my 2005 has been slipping for some time now on around 2 to 3rd shifts (40 to 50mph) downshift as well. I was thinking it could be one of the solenoids. Which one should i start with and how hard are they to replace? Are they located on the outside of the transmission? I would appreciate some help.

Supersonic64126, did you replace it yet? Let me know how you "adjust" the sensor. People say that you need to have your car in Neutral to install that sensor, is it correct?

You can leave it in any gear, make sure you mark the old sensor before removal and line up your new one with the same mark as the old one.
