I have a 2006 Acura RL and my Emissions light came on my way home from work yesterday

Yesterday I started my car to go home from work and the emissions light came on as well as the d for drive begin flashing and the indicator for the transmission also came on and to check the lights. This is a lot going on for first starting up my car and never having these issues. My message told me to take it to a dealership as soon as possible.

After checking fluid and battery and if they all check out fine, you might need to pull the code, it could be one of the transmission gear solenoids. I had my 3rd gear one replaced. It sounds like it'd be expensive but it wasn't.

I had this exact same problem. Just replaced the transmission range switch and the problem has gone away. Unlike most Acuras ours is located just below and to the side of the battery. The part is easy to replace once you get to it. While I was there I also went ahead and installed a MagneFine ATF filter on the cooler return line. Easy access to that line once you're in there. The hardest part was getting the battery mount off (must feel like what BMW owners feel when working on their cars). For fun I will test the old transmission range switch to see where the short was.

Odinisamu, did you adjust the switch before installing? Do you need to get the car in neutral to install?
