Is Acuracare warranty worthwhile with deductible?

My factory warranty runs out in August so if I am going to purchase the acuracare extended warranty I have till the end of the month. I would buy the 4 year/48k extension that is @ 1,200 bucks but has a $100 deductible. I am wondering if the warranty is even worthwhile if I have to pay $100 bucks for anything that is wrong with the car. Does anyone know how exactly the deductible works? Say I take the car in to fix 2 door handles, do I have to pay $200 the deductible for both handles?

I’m still debating on just keeping my 1,200 in the bank, and if something major does go wrong I can take 1,200 off the repair that I didn’t spend on the warranty. If nothing goes wrong or I sell/trade the car I still have my 1,200 bucks.

$100 deductible sounds ridiculous... can you negotiate to to remove the deductible? $1200 is a decent amount of money to fix non-maintenance repairs. What year is your RL? Have you had anything replaced yet? If you have an 05, it may be worth the warranty. I have already had the propeller shaft replaced ($1900), exhaust tips replaced ($100), brake switch replaced ($40), but I paid $900 for the CPO extended warranty without deductible. Also, many have had issues with the A/c costing $1000 to $3000.

No. If memory serves, $100 per each visit. Personally, I'd push for the $0 deductible. When a door handle does fail, do you really want to wait a few weeks for something else to break to make the $100 deduct worth while? Heck no! You want it fixed now!

I haven't gotten an extended warranty yet (06 RL, 34K miles). Requested a quote on-line and instead received a phonecall from some dingbat that said she could not give me a quote, but her boss could call me back to discuss it. When I requested that they provide quote or questions via e-mail, she got angry and said that if I didn't want to talk, I shouldn't have made an online request. When I responded that I made an online request because I wanted an online response, she hung up on me....and these are the characters that are supposed to make customers want to buy....

You do not even have to talk to anyone. Just use the website, make sure you look at the deductible.

Damn. I was not even aware there was anything other than a $0 deductible for Acura care. Both my CL and my RL were $0 and I was never offered anything but. Guess its like any other insurance.

I think any extended warranty that force any deductible cost is a general "third party" insurer and not a Acuracare warranty.

Keep in mind in the state of Florida the rules are different. Insurance and warranties are heavily regulated. And of course that means the consumer pays more in Florida than in most other states. AcuraCare extended warranties are nearly double in cost in Florida than elsewhere. And we can only purchase them from vendors licensed in the state of Florida.

I was quoted by a member on this board, and Tim at hondacuraworld for the warranty. I have a 05 RL and the only available warranty comes with the 100 dollar deductible.

Perhaps when the car hits a certain age or mileage, only the deductible warranty is availalble. I thought the deductible was a one shot deal though. When I bought my AcuraCare warranty for my RL ('06) and MDX ('04), the warranty with the $100 deductible was only $100 less.

Acura Care with deductible only

My factory warranty expires next month. The best quote I received is $1,200 for 4y/48K with $100 deductible.

I think I don't have a choice, would you guys consider not getting the warranty on 2005?

Toonces, which one did you get?

i'd get the warranty. peace of mind. for $1200 that's cheap.

i bought a used boxster with 75k miles.. warranty for just 3 year on that car was $5000. i skiped that as the cost was just too high... for a car that gets driven VERY litle... 3k / year.

on a car you will likely daily drive, and put 12-15k+ / year on...and could have big $$ repairs, 1200 is not that bad. odds are you'll use it for something. if you wind up with less than $1200 in repairs...you had peace of mind.

if you are a gambler... pocket the money, and bet you will have $1200 or less worth or repairs during the warranty period.

The difference between $0 and $100 deductible was $100 cost. I never saw a point in offering people one with a deductible as I figured it would only infuriate you if you ever had to pay that. Maybe they only gave you a quote for the one w/ deductible because it was cheapest. Ask Tim/others for a quote on a $0 deductible.
