I got it too. I'm glad Acura is touting its unparalleled safety record. Yay Acura, it's about time!

About two years ago, there was discussion on here about what Acura wanted as an identity. This was before the 'Tier One' dream.

There were articles where Acura wanted to be known for safety and luxury -very much a 'Japanese Volvo' with the technology component.

As much as I admire the safety component of Acura vehicles, it does make me recall the Volvo image of the 80s. I recall the Volvo image was the SAFE vehicle every yuppie and soccer mom wanted to own. If you were single, it was a BMW, but if you had a family, it was a Volvo. Long before SUVs became the mobile living room of choice, every mom had a Volvo wagon in the burbs.

The Volvo brand draw of the 80s was that they were SAFE and quasi luxury regardless of the fact they were unattractive boxes. So in true Japanese mimicry Acura seems to be achieving the SAFE and quasi luxury components well. They even managed to get ugly in there too.

I'm sorry, BMW was never tops in crash tests, see below:

And now Acura:

I saw a commercial the other day that had the whole Acura lineup and they were touting the 5-star top safety pick awards in comparison to the competitors.

It was a pretty good commercial. Can't seem to find a vid of it.

Watch 'Deadliest Catch' on Discovery Channel. Acura is a sponsor, that commercial runs regularly. Also not the 'Acura Advance' logo on the Bering Sea Radar Map they use to show the position of the crab boats. Maybe they use Acuralink.

I saw that video & thought it was well done. There is another where they flash up all the luxury grills (yes, including the Power Plenum) & the narrator talks about what it takes to have high resale value & finally states how Acura does it better than any other luxury brand based upon one of those recent reports. Very nicely done & elegant in that luxury car maker kinda way.

Good to see Acura's dedicated advertising arm is doing some good work.

Cannot find either video online yet tho ...

I saw it, too. I'm so proud of Acura marketing about the email and the TV ad that I could cry. Tears of joy, of course....

I hope they give us moar! Simple messages...

High resale value as a brand
We're the safest
Our interiors are the best
...and show the cars.

Brilliant!
