Acura Market Research Event - 3/10/05
Is there anyone that is going to go to the marketing focus group at the Honda Headquarters in SoCal on 3/10/05? I received an e-mail from the product planner for Honda R&D and he is looking for RL owners to participate, but there was a pre-qualifying online survey, which I took, but for some reason or another, did not qualify. DANG!
It asked some very basic questions, age, gender, have you purchased a car recently, have you participated in any car marketing event in the past 3 months, what do you consider important in your vehicle choice, etc.
I would have LOVED to attend this focus group to see what type of market research they are doing and to provide my input.

I suspect that the paid market research (message on my machine said it was $125 to go to Schaumburg on Wednesday, and I knew I was unavailable so didn't bother to call back) is partly a ploy to gather some free market research from your online entries. If so, this is kindof scammy. I would relish the oportunity to sit down with some designers and really tell them what I would like-dislike for future updates in their automobile. Just from reading a lot of posts here, I get a feel for what this enthusiast board likes and I think Acura could really have a true winner (not that they did bad AT ALL) if they listened to us.

I failed the online survey, but the marketing company called me yesterday and asked the same questions over the phone and I passed. This isn't for event to be held on 3/10 at the Honda HQ, but for the same event in my area (Orange County) on 3/17. We will be meeting with the Honda product planners.
They are giving us $200 for two hours of our time and a raffle for an original engineering sketch of the RL.

OK wait a sec...you had to take some survey before hand and RL owners here failed it...this was for some sitdown with Honda people to talk about....the RL? Ha, that's funny.
What kind of questions (aside from the brief areas listed in the orig post) did you guys have to take on this survey that you failed? I wonder how many spots they have for this focus group because damn, seems like they are picky and very selective. I'd want a big group of RL owners and potential RL owners there to offer input but I guess if they pay each person for their time it could get costly.

Well, I just completed the interactive survey a half an hour ago..first time I participated in one of these. For the most part it was just what it says, a survey. Questions to help them profile the RL buyers likes and dislikes and reasons for buying the RL. What was interesting was responding to images of other cars & brands that they flashed on screen.
There was limited feedback via dialogue..I suspect those attending the ones in person will have opportunities to give more input.
It seems that the number of participants was very limited, I'm guessing 10 to 20? I did notice one other member of this forum (DTRose) participated.
