Acura Certified Warranty Cost (Urgent)
I am about to close on a deal for a 2006 Rl with 30,500 miles. I have the until March 23 for the factory warranty to expire. It's not being purchased from a Acura Dealer, can i still get the Acura Certified?
I got quoted $1998.00 for 4 years /75,000 miles Bumper to Bumper from an Acura Dealership. Is this a good price and would it be a Acura Warrenty with the road side assistance , new mats etc.
thanks

When I bought my RL new in Sept. '06 I got the 7yr/120000 $0 deductible Acura warranty for $1600. Shop online for a better deal -they are out ther to be had. FYI, I have had aftermarket warranties before - never again, JMHO.

Call Tim Poliniak at Hondaacuraworld.com (Ray Laks). They are a sponsor here and many of us have purchased our extended warranties there. They offer excellent pricing and service. (888) 729-5257.

What's been mentioned above is true, shop around. I also recently acquired an 06 RL and my warranty runs out in the summer. I called up Acura customer care and found out that extended warranty prices are set at the dealership level and will vary. In speaking with several business managers from various dealerships, I did in fact receive varying quotes. Good luck.

neuronbob, if I had known about this forum, and your location, I would have asked you for a favor but it's a little too late now. I've bought a 2006 RL from a used car dealer in Cleveland. Heading down there this weekend to pick it up, hope it's not a lemon, carfax came out clean so fingers crossed ![Wish](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wish.gif)
Thanks for backing up Ray Laks as a suggestion, i'll be giving them a call in the AM about the extended and a possible service.

Other options are Curry Acura and Bernardi Acura.

Remember, Honda no longer allows dealers to sell warranties via Internet, but you CAN call and these guys have low prices (or have in the past....)

When I spoke to Tim last year, he was mentioning the whole financial crisis was really tough on the dealership, and they barely made it through the winter. This may have been March - April 2009. Later in October Ray Laks closed the Honda motorcycle dealership to concentrate on Acura Honda and Mitsubishi dealerships in the Buffalo area

Yeah, the entire Rust Belt has taken a massive beating during the Great Recession. Cities like Buffalo and Cleveland are seriously depopulating due to the lack of jobs, and those left don't have money to buy a car, so there's a smaller piece of the pie left for car dealers....but that's OT. So sorry to hear about Tim, I hope he lands on his feet.

I priced Bernardi, they were close to Tim's price. Curry was little farther off but still better than the local dealership.

Hopefully he reads this forum and will chime in where he has landed. It would be nice that he knows of the appreciations many members have for him.
With any luck, he will wind up with another Acura dealer. I for one, appreciate the few dealers, reps and techs that contribute here. Not often are they appreciated, and too often attacked, but any inside information, when valid is welcome by me. Too often our enthusiasm skews the reality that Acura is a business first and our personal expectations only have weight when it has measurable impact to that business.

Tim does read this forum. Here's his goodbye thread and his firing JUST happened Friday.
Was due to the economy.

1. If you are registering the car in another state initially, then you are golden as far as buying the warranty elsewhere. You can always re-register the car in Florida later and the warranty is still valid.
2. Tough choice between the two cars. I'd go for the one with lower miles personally, but CPO is generally a good thing, and the 2007 comes with iPod connectivity.

yea i'm debating back and forth. i think i might go with the 07. it saves me around 1500 (waranty is included) and i get a newer year vehicle. we'll see when i go in this week.
would you happen to know if i register the car in NY i would have to pay to get it registered in FL (tax, tag, etc). I graduate in two years.
i just renewed my registration for FL for two years and totaled my lancer evolution. if i get the 07 i guess i wouldnt have to worry about acura care.

If anyone would be willing to PM me a recent price and dealership that was used to obtain an extended warranty at a good value, I would appreciate it. I am in need of a warranty and was planning on using HondaacuraWorld, which is no longer in operation -- thank you.

I purchased my extended warranty from Tim a few years ago. I believe I paid around $1300 for a 5 year plan, and I was right under 30k. With extended warranties, I noticed their is room to negotiate. Or at least call around and see what different dealers offer.

They quoted me $2,071 for the gold package at 77k.

I just read that Tim is no longer at Ray Laks. I bought my extended RL warranty from him in December. It's a real blow for us that he's no longer with Acura (that we know of). I guess Curry Acura is our new warranty go-to guys.

Any updated info on the best place to buy the warranty now?
I have been quoted $1415 for 4 years and $1600 and change for 5 years with no deductible. Anyone seen any better?

Just received the following quote on 06 RL with hair less than 30k miles on the odometer.
4 year/48,000 miles $1690
5 year/60,000 miles $1750
What are your thoughts? Both with $0 deductible.

too much. when I bought my car back in May 08 with 43k miles on it, I paid $900 for an Acuracare warranty that covers me for 4 years up to 100k miles. In effect, I got a 4 yr 57k mile warranty. I now have 67k miles on it, so I have another 1.5 years/32k miles left on warranty.

we are in california. They offered us an extended for about $1600. When they went down the list of non-covered items it wasn't worth it. For example, saleman (FI) says - if the light ballasts go bad think how much the warranty will save you. (Exclusions: bulbs, ballasts and associated wiring). And, the company backing the warranty was not Honda but some insurance underwriter I had not heard of. I told the dealer I might be interested in a HONDA or ACURA extended warranty equal to the original but the conversation changed.

Hmm... I contacted Tim a while ago at oemacuraparts. He said they're not doing Acura Care Warranty's yet.
I'm looking into getting one for my dad. Norm is $1600ish for 5 year 84k miles without negotiating.

Try Curry Acura Parts...they have an internet parts site and were among the bidders when I got mine...I imagine that they still do it. I think www.curryacuraparts.com

Turns out I was misinformed. Warranty coverage was thru a third party, called Fidelity. I'm told by two dealers, this is an excellent coverage (plantinum coverage for those who's familiar with the company) and is AS good as Acura Care Warranty. Can anyone comment to this?
Since the car is out of original factory warranty, they CANNOT offer the acura care warranty.
