Active Lighting System!!!

Ok my ALS warning has come on twice now inside of 3 months. The last was yesterday while I was pulling into my office parking lot and THE LIGHTS WEREN'T EVEN ON!

I treat these warnings as I would my computer locking or freezing; I reboot or, with the car I just turn it off and back on again. Each time I've done this the warning goes out & the ALS goes back to functioning normally.

Anyone else had this happen repeatedly?

Let me add that I keep my lights on auto.....

I would say go to your dealer and have them check it out. Maybe the AFS is malfunctioning and they can replace the module.

Not near the frequency you've experienced. Mine has done it 3 times in 11 months. Twice with lights off, one with lights on. Each time it cleared with a simple restart of the car and didn't come back for months. Since I'm an hour's drive from the dealer, I haven't had it checked.

I don't use the auto setting and I have had at least 6 warnings in the last 4 months. Dealer said they couldn't find a problem.

One warning in 10 months, about two weeks ago. Lights off, auto off. It went away at restart.

Just remember that if nobody buys the 1st year car there will probably not be a 2nd year.

I said that after I bought the TSX. Oh then I bought the RL on the first year model.

That is unfortunate, perhaps try a different dealer?

I am delighted with the reliability and the quality of assembly and materials shown by my first year car. Most of the "problems" I have perceived are due to my own lack of understanding of the systems in the car, the rest are so minor - mostly software glitches - that they pale in comparison with what other cars are going through. How important is it to get XM to refresh the info in 2 seconds as opposed to 15 seconds? Not important to me, at all! I haven't done and I won't do any of the TSBs because the techs will probably screw things up. In spite of all the "computers" running systems on our cars the cars are 200% more reliable than your average PC at home.

Have you checked on the reliability of BMW, Mercedes and Audi lately? Mercedes and BMW quality has taken a dive lately. I went to the San Francisco car show a couple of days ago and I saw Mercedes quality going down the tubes - plasticky interiors with tiny sounding doors when you shut them. BMWs have the same and lots of orange peel on their paint jobs. A bright blue new M5 they had showed all of the same and it had a $90K sticker. BMW interiors look down right cheap when compared to my RL.

Heh. Perhaps, as a group, Honda/Acura owners consider reliability paramount and the relatively benign co-miserating here is a reflection of that fact.
