AC not cold. DIY fix?
My AC does not produce cold air.
Is there a DIY fix for this or does a dealer need to do the work?
Replace freon can?
Please list part numbers and steps if you can.
Thanks.

This is likely a warranty issue, especially with the 2005. There is a TSB somewhere on this. Clutch relay coil or something....

Mentioned several times on this forum but the search function on this site is about the worst out there and cannot be relied on.
I replaced my coil unit not too long ago. Need the right tools to get the snap rings off from an angle. Otherwise pretty straight forward. Works great every since.

Anyone ever used those DIY a\c refrigerant recharge kits sold at Wally World and other part stores? The air coming out of the vents when I have the a/c on just doesn't seem cold enough for me. I do not believe that there is a major issue with the cooling system such as a bad condenser but instead is just low on refrigerant. Debating on going to the dealer or independent shop for service or just picking up a recharge kit and doing it on my own.
^I actually noticed the same thing in my car about a month ago. I suspected low refrigeratant and it turns out I was right. I opted with dealer since I had a coupon and it came out to not terribly more than an indy shop. Just beware, my dealer said they can't check the level they have to evacuate and recharge to tell me if it's low. Stealership?
My system was short by 0.4 lbs thought. System capacity is 1.1lbs and mine had 0.7lbs. No substantial leaks.

Once I drove a friend's old acura to fill it with frion and the guy did it saying u really could do this yourself. Just buy a canister and pump in some at a time until u feel the air is cold enough.
i found a lil tutorial. there are a few others on there.

I'll share my experience since posted in this thread almost a year ago. Last week my area had at least three days where the temperature went above 90 degrees. I decided to buy a can of the AC Pro refrigerant instead of having the system professionally checked. My refrigerant level was low but not depleted which would explain why the air coming out was somewhat warm but not hot. I tolerate the cold more than hot and especially humid weather so having cold crisp air is a must. After adding the refrigerant, I used one a handheld digital thermometers and the reading coming from the center vents was in the mid 50's and slightly higher from the corner vents. I was happy with the results especially during those days where it reached above 90 degrees.

My system was short by 0.4 lbs thought. System capacity is 1.1lbs and mine had 0.7lbs. No substantial leaks.that was BS. they hook up pressure gauges to high and low and should easily be able to tell if it's low. Usually, as long as your a/c is still a little cold, you can add a can of freon, but you should use the type with the leak detecting fluid in it so you can locate and repair the leak later on. It will continue to leak until you replace the seal or whatever has gone bad. If the A/C is still a little cold, that means there is still a vacuum on the system so it will happily suck in the fresh can of freon.

Acura Libertyville unfortunately has no way of just checking the levels, which is odd to me considering you can get the gauges to do it. It just wasn't worth the money considering I'd probably never do it again on the car. I remember their initial estimate was a little on the high side but I remember they had a coupon at the time, and I told them McGrath had quoted me less too. FWIW I've noticed Pauly can be a little cheaper sometimes, especially with their coupons.

No worries, I'm always happy to share my dealership experience. I've never actually turned my keys over to McGrath, I've only gotten quotes from them for comparison. I honestly can't say I've ever tried Muller before, but I've taken a friend's Honda to Muller and the experience has been fairly good. Libertyville has been my go to, but I feel like as of late with the change of ownership,it's not quite the same experience I've had in the past if/when I do go in...
