Anyone know how to turn off the the reminder if I do this "service" myself?
Since this ia a AWD car, how should the tire rotation go?
Thanks!

My dealer charges about $70 for that service... not worth my time to shop around for it, really. Jiffy-Screw will charge me $25 for an oil change, but it's not worth it to have my oil pan plug stripped out and my filter mis-installed, either.

A=Replace engine oil
1=Rotate tires
Look in the Maintenance Minder section of the OM. Pp 357-358 in the 2006 OM.

Aren't there a bunch of check and inspect things on the list to do at that interval?
My dealer charges $35 for an oil change if that's all you were having done.
And I don't rotate my tires....

"A" service is just oil change. The "B" service is the "inspect and check".

At almost $300/tire I think you would eventually save money by having equal tire wear. With front drive only I could accept not rotating and just buy 2 more when neeeded, But with AWD I beliebe you would be well advised to rotate.

P. 385 gives you the pattern depending on the type of tires you have.
I am not trying to be sanctimonious with the OM quotes, by the way, so don't take it that way. The OM and this forum are where I get most of my info on this complex car.
The link at the Tire Rack gives similar info, but more expansive, covering different variables such as driveline, wheel size, tire type. Just as the OM says, you would use Tire Rack diagrams C or D depending on the type of tires you have.

For those who don't have their owner's manual handy, here are the steps to re-set the reminder:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position
2. If the oil life minder is not displayed, press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel repeatedly until it is.
3. Press and hold the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel for more than 10 seconds and the remaining engine oil life reset mode will be shown on the MID
* To reset the engine oil life, press the up or down button to select RESET on the display and press the SEL/RESET button to select it.

Well, it's a long story. My other car (Turbo Porsche) has different size tires front and rear and they're directional so I can't move them.
On my girlfriends car (BMW 528 Sport Wagon) every time we rotated the tires we ended up with a noise (tire related) so we just left them in the original spot. We got 55K on her first set of tires and 50K on her second set or tires.
My car (2005 RL) tires have 53K on them with a little wear on the inside edge of the rear tires but I will make it till the winter before I replace the tires.
Could I get more mileage out of them if I rotated them, maybe. Am I happy with them so far, yep.
Oh, I do that kind of work myself so it wouldn't cost me anything to rotate them so it's not a money issue. And I love tinkering on my cars so it's not a time issue.
