2k off msrp for RL in s. cali
Just heads up for anyone who is interested in the RL in s. cali. I was looking into the 2.9% finance special (which ends this friday). I called a couple dealers and on the phone they were willing to give me 2k off msrp for the RL.

What dealer(s)?
I'm not surprised. I test drove an RL yesterday, and I told them I was hearing people were getting 1500 off MSRP. He said that they could work with me.
I originally wanted a TL, but the RL keeps calling me. I just need the price to come down a little more.

A dealer I won't name in Virginia offered me $1200 off an RL early last month (not knowing I'd already bought mine), but he'd added over $3000 worth of dealer installed items, so the MSRP still stood. I was offered the break only on the added items.
Is the west coast offer similar? Or is it $2000 right off the top?
Or, have Acura dealers started to add a sales markup (something I thought they wouldn't do)?

Dealers always want to move extra cars early on to give the vehicle exposure to the public. I got my TSX one month after its release and got it at roughly $500 over invoice when some people were still paying MSRP. A couple months later, I still had people complaining about how dealers refused to budge from MSRP so expect these good deals to disappear in a couple months.
Also, it is the end of the year when car sales are at their lowest, so dealers may just want to move a couple of extra cars this period.

Any idea what's up? Has the market softened that quickly on the RL's?

I worked in the car business for a long time and we never ever discounted an item that was selling well. You need to keep the gross up on the cars that will make it so you can offset the mini deals that you will undoubtedly get.
Typically a car is only discounted when its sales start to fall. TLs in my area are going for very little off sticker and the RLs are going at MSRP. So it was a genuine shock that the RL is being discounted so heavily already. If you don't have something constructive to say perhaps you should refrain from posting.
This isn't some RL vs. TL issue with me. I am genuinely interested in the car and you act more like a BMW owner than most Acura owners I've met. If I wanted an elitist arrogant attitude I am sure I could go over to the M5 forums and get my fill.
I am still hoping that the RL will sell pretty well and Acura will continue to improve it. Once they address the HP/torque issue I'll most likely buy one. I am not a pauper and could easily afford both the TL and RL if I wanted but I already have 5 cars in my garage and I really don't need any more at the moment. So I cordially ask you to keep the banal and childish comments to yourself if you have an issue with me take it off list. I have as much right to post here as you do.

People who come to an internet forum to brag about how many cars they have are like people who claim to have an enormous pecker. :whocares:
wavshrdr, just because it doesn't fit your experience doesn't mean it's not possible. I explained one possible scenario that is quite common with Acura dealers. And no one is stalking you, it's just that this part of the forum is still fairly small so 8-) will be commenting a fair amount since he frequents here quite a bit.

I have quite accurately explained my thought concerning the RL. I have often spoke of its praises. Since you obviously can't control your urges I refuse to engage you.
CGT- what is the problem with a public discourse? I added useful information that in my area the RL's are going for MSRP. It doesn't hurt to have an overview of what the RLs are going for nationally. I am not bragging about the number of cars as I have but rather to counter the potential point of I didn't buy the RL because I couldn't afford it.
So just because I don't own an RL doesn't mean that I can't contribute useful information or perspective.

You guys are all decent 05RL'rs and always continuing to help this forum day by day. As well as wavshrdr is doing the same thing. Maybe we should stop this and get back to the right topics. wavshrdr ain't the troll, but just tries to explain well what his avizandum is. I don't see he's saying anything bad to 05RL. IMHO.
As I said before, I love 05RL, too, it's great, and would buy one right away with MSRP if this car comes with a little more features and unique design I prefer. But I won't give it up.
Sincerely.

Hmmmm.......maybe now's the time to take that test drive I keep talking about as the RL seems like a great ride. Unfortunately, here in Cleveland the dealers are pretty much sticklers for MSRP, or so I hear.

Frankly $2000 is not enough to warrant a trip to CA to pickup a car to me. The hassle and time involved is not worth it. It might not be the case for others though.

While the savings are significant, I prefer purchasing from the dealer who will be doing the servicing. Maybe I'm just old school, though. (Murphy's Law: I just bought, so I'll probably soon be transferred out of state!)
But that's great news for those itching to pull the trigger!

By the way Frebay, what dealer in your area is offering 2K off? Just curious.
