What is difference between Direct Route and Easy Route?

When viewing the route options in the nav for RL it lists Direct Route, Easy Route, and Maximize Freeways as the choices. There often isn't much difference in the "Easy" versus "Direct". Nevertheless, I was hoping that someone here could explain the difference. Thanks.

Indeed, they're very similar...

My understanding is Easy Route would provide the minimal (least) number of turns to the destination. And, Direct Route would just give you the most direct "connection" between you and the destination with the minimal driving time.

I'll give it a stab...

...I too have noticed that the two routes are the same virtually everywhere I have been. I have only noticed a difference when I leave from Towson, MD (outside of B-More). One route had me using I-95 south to get back to Rockville, MD (North-West MD compared to B-More), and the other route had me using I-895 South. Both routes used the tolls I used the I-95 route due to the time of day. I think that the more options available in the said area, that do not add too much difference to the trip length and speed, help the NAV system decide whether or not to use another HWY or PKWY...ect. i.e. - I-895 and I-95 southbound.

I hope this helps!
