2011 Infiniti M Up 4 MPG
Acura really has to step it up on the next RL, especially if they want to be seen as the green luxury brand. The new Odyssey's EPA gives hope ...
Infiniti today announced the official EPA mileage estimates for the 2011 Infiniti M37 and M56 sedans. Both models will go on sale next month with prices starting at $46,250 for the 2011 Infiniti M37 and $57,550 for the M56.
EPA estimated fuel-economy for the 2011 Infiniti M37 comes in at 18/26 mpg (city/highway) while the M37x will average 17/24 mpg. The 2011 Infiniti M56 will return an EPA estimated fuel-economy of 16/25 mpg while the all-wheel-drive version M56x will return 16/23 mpg.
Infiniti says that the fuel economy estimates for the 2011 Infiniti M sedan, show an increase of up to four miles per gallon versus 2010 M models.
The 2011 Infiniti M37 is powered by a 3.7L V6 that makes 330-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The 2011 M56 is powered by a 5.6L V8 that produces 420-hp and 400 lb-ft.

If honda gets off their chair and does something, the next gen RL will be a hit! They are going to need a reliable 6spd SH-AWD transmission with good gearing and as well a whole lot less power loss than the current system, a DOHC V6 that can make a good amount of power to move the car and last, but not least features to entice customers!
When the 05 RL came out, it was good but not good enough. the lack of real world power (nearly 200WHP from 300 at the crank) is what is killing it! This leads to worse fuel economy as well as unsatisfied drivers. Also Infiniti can do much better with the V8 and V6 highway economy, my 760 gets 22 MPG easily on the highway doing 85, and that's with a 6.0L V12! With the M37, they should be easily able to attain somewhere near 27-28 MPG on the highway.

Just saw the new M at the Chicago auto show and it looks really nice. More tech then you would know what to do with, it probably comes with a phone book size manual.

The new M is really nice. It looks better in person than in pictures. I hope Acura steps it up with the next RL, and FAST. Realistically, the M is the RL's main competition. If I were in the market today, the M56x would be at the top of my list and in fact I plan to test-drive it for fun.
