2006 RL price?

Mostlikely my flooded 05 RL is totaled so now I am shopping for a new car. my top choices are another RL and bmw 530. I am leaning more toward the RL since i didnt really get to enjoy the one i owned much. and since i got such a great deal on my 05 dont know how much more i have to pay for an 06 in the Cali Bay area. You think I can get it near the invoice price?

My guess is that any dealer in our area would take 45 for a '06 without too much work. If you are willing to drive to Fairfield I can get you a quote from the guy who has sold me several Acuras. He sold me my '05RL for 46K when everyone was selling at sticker price only.

Wasabe, follow the same recipe as we discussed before. Check carsdirect for prices in various zip codes around the bay. Call a few dealers including Stevens Creek. Remember they got me a great deal on my 05 without haggling. Then check prices in LA. The prices will be higher now because there is no pressure to sell the 06s I suspect. You may be able to find an 05 somewhere if you'd consider it. Should be able to get it sub $40K easily.

I got my 06 with tech for under $50K. $49 and some change.
It was from Il, not that you will come here for the car, but thats to let you know the scope of the deals on a national level.

Good choice sticking with the RL. The 530 will have more problems than it's worth.

.....Carsdirect is quoting $48,503 for an '06 with Tech Package for the So Cal area. The MSRP is $ 53,715. Note that Carsdirect prices are not generally the lowest. All the times I've bought cars, I've been able to do signifcantly better myself at the dealerships by bargaining hard. So If carsdirect is quoting 48.5K, you could probably do another grand or so better: ($47.5K), which BTW, is slightly below invoice.

Invoice according to edmunds is $47,903

Just purchased an 06 without tech package for $44100. I believe window sticker was a couple hundred under 50k.

Great price. I would consider trading my 05 in if I could get at least 38k for the trade in value.

no, there is a 2% (or 2.5%) factory to dealer holdback.
Thats what the factory rebates back to the dealerships at the end of the year for each car they sell.
THats how the factory makes sure that the dealership-the OWNER gets a guaranteed profit on each car. It is not shared with the sales reps.
Its also used as an incentive; the more cars you sell, if you reach a goal, then they can kickback more money to the dealer.

Also check AAA if you are a member. My price was invoice plus 1% I believe.

There are people on Edmunds saying that they paid 42-43 for a new 2006 RL. If invoice is 44K, is there any way that this could be true? or just some false bravado?

I plan on posting an experience that I had this week at a NY Metro Dealer which was just horrible as I have more time this weekend. But part of my reason that I went to the dealer was an add for a "almost new 2006 - 258 miles" for $42,600...
