2006 Rl Msrp

Did anybody notice the $200 increase in MSRP for the 2006 model? We already know the car doesn't sell well at sticker, why would they incease the price?

If they reduce the production numbers for the RL, we may find that deals closer to MSRP are more the norm as word of mouth about how wonderful the RL is begins to spread. It also allows people who buy the RL at a discount to tell all their friends about how their car retails "in the low 50's". Honda is still hoping that having a $50,000+ flagship will elevate the Acura brand name (even if they end up selling them for less). As I've stated before, the RL is intended to act as the flagship only until the new NSX comes along. Dropping the RSX was more evidence of this renewed attempt to move the Acura brand more upscale.

They dropped the RSX? I thought they dropped the NSX?

In the grand scheme of things, a $200 increase on a $50,000 is not much (0.4%, I believe). That's no reason to complain. If Acura had raised the price 4%, then there would be reason to complain. Chances are Acura will set the same 20,000 unit goal they had last year. However, now they know which geographic locations are more likely to sell RL's, so they will apportion the cars appropriately.

They are dropping both the RSX and NSX with a new sports car that will be coming out (vtec.net).

True, I suppose the $200 increase could be due to inflation or the exchange rates. I did not think of it that way.

I hope they reduce the production numbers as hondamore suggested. It would help resale values.

I see the '06 RSX on acura.com.

I wish they would drop it . . .

Maybe Honda will decrease the overall production numbers. I'm sure they will decrease how many RL's will go to states like Texas where the car has not sold all that well.

poor rsx.

as for the price increase....I think it is silly regardless of it only being a small 200 bucks. Raising the cars price isnt going to attract people into the dealership.

Saw a bunch of RL's on my way to work today (NJ Turnpike). More and more of them in the NJ/NY Metro area. When word gets out about the features, price, and overall quality, the 06 MSRP might truly become the norm.

I hope it does static808 because that would make the resale value of ours better or would it. Also I plan to buy out my lease with a loan through my bank and they said the less you borrow against the value of it the better the interest rate. So I am thinking if the rls start selling for closer to msrp that will make the market value for our 05s better?

I read that they are scaling back annual production from 20,000 to 15,000. (Can't remember where though).

Acura overestimated demand in 2005, which led to the huge discounts that we are seeing.
