So I had to replace navigation due to black screen. I got navigation from 06 and the car i own now already had a back up camera installed but wires were clipped not connected to anything, no big deal. My question is without an oem back up camera should I still hook up signal wire to reverse lights to get power to camera like you would in anyother situation since the camera is aftermarket? I bought the adapter needed for the back of the Navi and when I shift to reverse screen flips but no picture even though video cables are hooked up. Let me know what you guys think 🤔 (TIA)

 

I have an 06, the power comes from the DVD unit in the trunk through the RCA cord to the camera. No need for separate wire to reverse lights.
if you search my posts, you can see my write up with pics on how to install the backup camera, though it sounds like you already have the camera so you need to get it connected correctly to the DVD unit
