2.9/4.9 financing on RL all of a sudden

Just noticed that the Acura website shows special financing on the RL for 07 and 08 models. Same incentive as the MDX. PLUS they still have the dealer incentive. That's another $2000+ saved on interest with a 36 month loan coupled with $3500 cash. To bad I already got my RL

with keywords being

2.9% APR financing for 24-36 months and 4.9% APR financing for 37-60 months available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier

what should be the ideal credit score to qualify for being at AHFC Super Preferred credit tier...

Talk about the hurting time at Acura. Special APR even on the MDX? Geez that's car's been out less than a year and already it's done?

I think 720 is the minimum....

Could be a function of not so great mileage and premium fuel requirements while gas is approaching $3.50/gallon or more.

A shame because the MDX has been getting rave reviews everywhere. I would have bought one instead of the RL if I didn't already have an '04 MDX.

I believe the better rate doesn't go with the $3,500 marketting support - it's only available with a $2,000 marketting support incentive.

LOL at the name of the incentive: "Chance to Advance". Go look on Acura's web site. At least it goes along with "Acura Advance".

Edit: I wish they'd show more of the "Advance Anthem" ad, I thought it was well-done.

I got 3.9% for 5 years loan from AHFC when I bought my 07 RL in Nov. 2006.

I think that it is 700 min.

Nearly the entire Acura line is moribund to say the least. The MDX is the only car that's moving so dealers are dropping their pants on them just to move some metal. How Acura has taken such a nose dive in the last 18 months saddens me!

TSX - Done (good thing a new one is out next April)
TL - Way past done and another 18 months of that generation
RDX - Nobody's buying one - done after 10 months on the market
MDX - Still selling well but at severe discounts (see above remarks)
RL - Well... we all know the score on this one!

What's left:

A new NSX in 2 years? Woo hoo!
A new coupe - inline 4, V6? No word!
A diesel MDX in 2 years? Let me hold my breath!

Acura should never have let the RSX go until it had a replacement. Next Gen CL should have come out already. The Honda Accord Sedan/Coupe will be out soon and I bet people will be shopping that against the TL!

Whomever is in charge of product planning for Acura should have taken a job as mailboy at Toyota HQ and learned a few things.

Oh... just my .

And as far as the premium gas thing goes... please. If you're gonna dump 50k on a car be a man and buy the gas and cut back on your soy mocha non-fat carmelo flat tall lattes! Speaking of which... I've had to many of those and am wound up now.

No mention of that. Plus, the APR incentive is for teh customer. The $3500 is for the dealer. I think both apply and you can grab it all

CL6, good and funny post.

Think how us coupe drivers feel. We had 2 beautiful Legend Coupes, and then the first CL was supposed to be the Legend Coupe replacement?? not.
The 2nd CL was much better but it didn't sell that well, I love mine though.

They drop the Prelude, the Legend Coupe, the CLS, the NSX, the RSX.
I get it, they don't wanna sell coupes.

I don't care about V8, V10, NSX, AWD, SUVs, or sedans that much.

but now I'm looking at sedans for the first time, and a used RL is top of the list, .... but I really want an RL coupe.

Some days it seems they don't want to sell anything

If you're looking for an Acura coupe you definitely have a problem. But even SUV's are bad. You have 3 sedans to choose from but only one SUV. Lexus has 3 (4 if you count the RX hybrid separately). We need more options! Now, Toyota is going to introduce this new JX suv next year and a remodeled RX! Man, Honda just moves at a snail's pace.

Don't forget the RDX - it's an SUV. So they have 3 sedans and 2 SUV's.

My sales guy told me it's been really slow at "my" dealership, too. There are some good products out there with Acura badges, but in the car biz, timing is everything. Acura just isn't in model change right now, and others are, so it'll be the doldrums for a while.

You're right. I stand corrected. For some reason the RDX isn't even on my radar screen. I keep forgetting about it.

I still haven't given up on the MDX Mike, but I'm going to wait for the 08's to see if they go more upscale. Believe it or not, I'm eye'ng the Honda Odyseey. Thought my Toyota Sienna would be my last minivan, but, took the kids to the beach this weekend and had one of those "will you stop touching me!" scenes in the car. Looks like I still need to keep them all separated for a few more years.

The rumors on the 08 Odyssey Touring edition have it trimmed out like an Acura! Hell, even better then the MDX. If the rumors are true it will have; BlueTooth, PAX tires, Adaptive Cruise, Roof rack, XM, the famous Honda Nav and Voice Command system we've come to love, VSA, etc. I think it would just be missing the SHAWD, AND, it's stickers at $39k. No luxury badge tax

The RDX is a very entertaining drive. The turbo engine is a kick in the pants, and the suspension is very well done. Along with the SH-AWD, they wanted to hit sedan like handling ala TL or TSX and did a good job--I just am not accustomed to pushing an SUV, OK, CUV that way because of the high CG. The RDX feels planted, and it is almost easy to forget you are not in a sedan.

I had heard, though cannot confirm, that the PAX tires for the Ody were being dropped. I am not sure if that is true, or just wishful thinking amongst the fan base. Ody owners loved the touring edition, but hated the LX4 PAX tires for premature wear, expense, and lack of available service. There is no way they were getting 50K miles out of those LX4 PAX, and the thread has been bitter, acerbic, however you want to describe it, pretty nasty.

There is a large thread in the Odyclub website about how to get the rid of PAX, and one of the solutions has been to buy RL takeoff wheels (17"), install the appropriate sized tires to become "PAX free". Not clear what they do about the spare tire, tools, etc. I don't follow it closely enough to know if the Ody TE has been modified in any way because you don't need a spare.

If the RL were introduced a year later, you wonder if PAX would have been an option after the outcry from Honda owners.

Yep, I've read those threads. I haven't had problems with my PAX tires. I love them. Also, I notice people with the 07 oddy's are not complaining as much about the pax. I wonder if it was a suspension problem that needed to be tuned. I'm sure there's nothing inherently wrong with the PAX tires.

By the way, the rumor is true. There's a lot of good info out there about the 08 Odyssey. However, they are not getting rid of it, just making it an option. That's good for those who don't want them

By the way, rumor also says they will add keyless start and Active Noise Cancellation to the Ody. Can we believe that? Sounds like an RL? Maybe they should move it over to the Acura side

My wife drives an '05 Ody Touring, and loves it. Wouldn't trade it for any SUV, even an MDX. Between the sliding doors and the space, there's nothing else she would be ok with, and it's got plenty of options.

The PAX tires are fine (we had a puncture once and it worked as advertised), but they suck in the snow w/o AWD.

And it already has the ANC, just no keyless start (which bothers the heck out of me now that I've grown accustumed to it in my car).

Spicey,

Sounds like we were doing the same research. I had to think long and hard before committing to the 06 Tech package (ACC/CMBS/PAX) because of the PAX. The first two were a no brainer, the PAX still gives me fits every once in awhile when I want to install the A-SPEC suspension, but cannot. Maybe those Teins that Touge has installed. I can tune the dampers for the heavier tire, but at maybe two to three times the cost.

I agree with you. Ironic that for a line that prides itself on being sport it ain't got no sports cars!

Perhaps tractor production will be increased 500% over the life of the next 5 Year Plan.

I just saw and 'Chance to Advance' commercial. There was even (brace yourselves) a fleeting glance of an RL in the commercial.

I saw that too. I almost had a heart attack when I thought it was an RL only commercial.
