So i'm new to this forum but i have a few questions that nobody can answer and hope you guy will be able to!

I don't own an RL, but I am planning to buy one at the end of the summer and build it next winter.
One of my concern is the transmission/tranfercase.
the one im interested in is the 5speed with paddle shifts and I cant seem to find any info on this car transmission

1. Does anybody know what type of transmission it is?

​2. Does anybody knows how much power they can handle? (Looking for a 400ish at the wheels)

​​​​3. Is there any other maybe, bulkier or even a manual transmission that can fit to this car? ( Without alot of fitting)

1. 5 speed tranny made in house from Japan
2. No one has truly boosted the RL, you are the guinea pig
3. You are the guinea pig, we think it's possible to throw the RL body into the 4G TL chassis. But again, you're the guinea pig

 

Well, technically, I've seen pictures of a boosted RL, but the member posted the build and disappeared. @JDMCRX is active and might have some of these answers. Crab man, you're a wizard under the hood in your own right too.

The automatic 3G TL's held about 390hp before the tranny's blew

 

Only manual transmission would be the 6spd AWD trans out of the 10+ TL. It'll bolt up easily but wiring is the wild card.


RL deserves a 6spd manual...

 

If I were made of money, I would swap the chassis.
but it's all experimentation...

Thus why no one can exactly answer, cuz we're not made of money! And those who are, are smart enough to buy a faster car stock

 

Just turboing, will exceed $10k.

And on top of that, the car will not be reliable at all!!
most of the 3g TL'ers have second or third cars. As they are always working on the TL.

Just a lot of time and money involved. And as I get older, there are way more important things to do with money than to blow it on cars
