09+ Oil consumption

Hello,
I am considering an 09+ RL but am concerned about the MDX and TL AWD owners complaints of oil burning. I don’t see much regarding the RL, but with the same 3.7 is this an issue for many of you?

2012 RL 108.8k miles. Never has used any oil at all. I have it changed every 5-7k miles.

Interesting, thank you. I haven’t been able to find much about the RL burning either

I own my rl since it was 3yo and freshly of a 12000/year lease. (2005 bougt in 2008 from a honda factory auction, still my daily driver) I know its not 3.7 but they gotta be smilar. Oil burning since i have it, not getting worse... also oil gets dark pretty fast after a change

Before assuming its burning, check for oil reservoir leaks from bolts, etc.

Many Hondas exhibit side leaks on reservoirs / or drain plug leaks.

There's a new TSB out for the 3.7 motors in the TL AWD, MDX and RL. See the 4G TL forum, where it is listed under TSBs.

Yup just scheduled an appt for my oil consumption issue. They will want you to do a factory oil change first. then you bring it back after a 1k miles for them to evaluate.

Received in Feb 2019 TSB 'Warranty Extension: Engine Oil Consumption
Havn't experienced this on both 2005 and 2001 RLs but will check with my Acura dealer next service.
