'07 RL Tech Loaner this AM

Picked one up today as a loaner for an oil change. I didn't get a chance to really review the major differences between this and my '05, but I'm not really impressed thus far. Not that I was expecting a vast improvement, but it feels the SAME as my '05, minus and plus a few minor things. The rear view camera is pretty sweet, so I may have to get that one of these days. Car drove and felt like my '05.

I was wondering about getting loaner when changing oil. I mean, when I go to the dealer here in downey for oil change, I have to wait good 3 hours or have my wife to come with her car along. Do you ask for the loaner or they just give you one? Is my dealer cheap or what?

He's not cheap, just controlling costs. If you want a loaner you're gonna need to ask for one. Also, I'm sure they don't have a parking lot full of loaners (usually just a couple or three) so you'll need to ask for one when you schedule your service and be flexible for the date.

If they don't have a loaner they certainly should offer shuttle service back home or to work (within a certain distance). Ask for that also

Actually, I dont think they normally will give you a loaner just for an oil change, but you should have a few other concerns to get the loaner. I mentioned I had the issue with the trunk remote button (draining the battery), so they said they would look into that. So I soppose the loaner was for that.

Sorry, Synth19 is absolutely right. I didn't read your post carefully enough. No one's going to give you a loaner for an oil change (or any paid services). Only warranty work.

However, even with the warranty work, you'll still need to ask for it and schedule the service on a day when they have one available to give you. Don't walk in on the day of your service and ask for a loaner.

My dealer will give a loaner for routine service, no problem, but you do have to schedule it pretty far in advance. They usually don't give me an RL, though -- it's either a TL or an RDX or MDX. Which is fine, for an afternoon.

Three hours, though, for an oil change, is ridiculous. It should be an hour, tops.... and that's pushing it.

I'd try and schedule for first thing in the AM (less chance of them getting backed up the earlier you get in) and I'd tell the service writer that you're on a schedule and have to be out in an hour.

The one time my Honda dealer (before my RL) made me wait 1 1/2 hours for an oil change, they took $10 off for the trouble, and I didn't even complain....

My dealer gives me a loaner for routine service, as well, usually a TL, but sometimes a TSX. Either way, I am thankful for the convenience.

My dealer also gives loaners for any kind of service, warranty or otherwise. As an RL owner I usually get my choice. They've given me an RL (was offered and RDX) and a new MDX.

I asked for a TSX last time I went in. Had them fix the sunshade rattle and door handle. Dropped the car off in the evening at night and picked it up 10 days later. They offer RDX's also, which I think I will request next time.

I think it would have been quicker, but they lost my info in the system, so actually I called them. Not that I was complaining, it's nice to drive a car that is not yours hehe.

My dealer won't give me a loaner for an oil change, but I'm in and out in less than an hour.

Loaners for any other service that takes some time- recall item, fixed a rattle in my TL, etc.

I do tell them in advnace that I need the loaner and it's always been a TL or TSX. Last year when I knew I was interested in the RL I did make arrangements to get an RL loaner during some recall service for my MDX.

My dealer will give a loaner if projected wait time is over 2 hours. They will also drive and pick you up within a reasoable distance regardless of the wait. They are also very generous with loaners if you do the night services...Open til 2 am most nights except Sunday, expecting you to pick up your car within 24 hours of when they call you...

Wow, I'm amazed you guys can get free loaners for non-warranty work but this night service blows me away. You're telling me your service dept works till 2am? Can't be

The one ghey thing I had to do was to sign a waiver on the gas... it has to be at the same level from when I picked up the car, or I get billed $25. Hmm... with the current prices, $25 might actually be less then what I have to put in! Someone remind me, the RL only takes 87 octane?

You pay one way or the other. Anytime I bring my 1995 Legend in for anything but an oil change, I get a loaner. Of course you are paying $100 per hour labor rates, so they get it back.

And yes, regarding loaner, you have to bring it back with the same gas level you got it at. I am also sure everyone puts 87 in the loaner cars!

You are right, Pohanka are only open to midnight.

Mon-Fri 6:00 AM-12 Midnight
Sat 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
Sun 7:00 AM-5:00 PM

I got them confused with the other Acura Dealer, Radley, I also go to open til 2am weekdays

Sun Closed
Mon-Fri 7:30 AM-2:00 AM
Sat 8:00 AM-6:00 PM

I'm moving to The Villages in FL soon and would like to know the name of the dealer open till 2a.m. I could easily take advantage of some day tripping in Orlando while having my beautiful 2006 RL serviced.

Perhaps another reason to avoid "demos" (aka: "It was the manager's personal car").

The dealership I go to for service, Acura of Auburn (MA), offers evening appointments on some weeknights. I had a service appointment a few months back where I dropped the car off at 6:30 pm and got it back at 8:30 pm. It's pretty convenient.

Their service hours:
Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 9:30 PM

Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Sunday Closed

My dealer offers me a choice of loaner cars when I make an appointment. Usually an RL or MDX for RL owners. I have, in the past, also requested a TL and TSX to compare rides. Recently the SM informed me they had sold the RLs in the loaner fleet since inventory was so low!

But I apreciate having the option of which Acura I drive, provided I schedule an appointment. Usually with a phone call & email reminder as well as a message to the RL via Acuralink confirming the appointment.

I have an appointment in 10 days to replace my door panel and driver seat leather. An MDX has been reserved for me which I am looking forward to trying out!

I think so, too. Here's my dealer's service hours:

MWF 8A-6P
TuTh 8A-8P
Sa 8A-1P
Su yeah right! I mean, closed.

This is not bad considering that Cleveland is one of those towns that shuts down promptly at 5 PM.
