06 RL Rearview Mirror

So I'm cleaning the inside of the windshield and I hit the rearview mirror. It pops off at the base and is hanging by the cord that must serve the auto-dimming. No problem, I just pop it back on at the base. However, the mirror is now loose at the base and shakes and vibrates constantly. Is there a screw or other device in the mirror housing or base that is used to tighten the assembly? Thanks for the help.

If it's the same design as the other Acura lineup, there is a mounting spring that can be deformed or unseated which would cause the mirror to shake. There was a TSB,----> TSB06-012 on this, but not for the RL.
You say it shakes at the base so I would remove it again from the windshield and make sure something didn't get trashed when the mirror was knocked off.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look around for the toggle spring but am now wondering if there is a tightening screw as well.

As far as I remember, the rearview mirror comes off by twisting the entire assembly 90 degrees and then it pops off.

When you put the mirror back on, did you turn it 90 degrees and then twist/turn it? It may not be attached properly and thats what is causing the vibration.

Couple weeks ago I had to replace the mirror in my 01 CL-S (exactly the same mirror as in our RLs) because the fluid was leaking. I noticed vibration and play from the new (used) mirror so I used the flat-head screw driver on the sided and carefully closed the gap of the inside center metal piece a bit. This seem to get rid of the vibration and shaking.

Bit confusing with "on the sided" - can you draw a scheme on a paper and post of what exactly did you do? Thanks!

Wouldn't your first guess be that he meant "on the SIDE"?

Just going out on a limb.

You can try and use some of that foam weatherstripping (the stuff you would typically use one doors/windows in your house) to tighten up the mounting. I've seen that done and it works pretty well.
