06 RL "bells and whistles" starting to crap out
I have a 06 RL with 157k miles that runs great and has never needed anything more than the basic maintenance. About 2 months ago, the car started experiencing many issues that all started at the same time. They are:
1) From time to time the car doesn't recognize the keyless remote. I will start the car and after a few mintues, the dash lights up saying that the car doesn't sense the remote. Yes, I changed the batteries in the remote and that didn't work. I turn off the car and then the car will recognize the keys again.
2) The car will also not recognize the remote when I touch either front door. I can open the door using the remote but the keyless touch pad on the handle isn't sensing the remote.
3)Hands free will not hang up often when I hit the button on the steering wheel. The call will end but the HF will stay displayed on the navi screen and it doesn't go back to the stereo mode. This has also happened when I end the call from my cell as well. When I turn the car off, it fixes the problem.
4) I have never used the CMBS until 2 months ago. I tried it out and loved it but after a week, I was on a business trip and the cruise and the CMBS went out and an error message was on my display. I couldn't set the cruise and the error message said my CMBS wasn't working. I immediately drove to a dealer but once I shut the car off and restarted the car, the error message went off and everything worked fine. The dealer couldn't duplicate the issue or find anything wrong with it. I manually turned off the CMBS feature for fear that it would go out again and I haven't had an issue since.
5) the seat memory feature can be reset while driving but when I turn the car off, the next time I get into the car, the new seat settings are not saved. They go back to the original seat setting before I created a new setting. Even if I'm parked and change the seat setting and save it, when I turn the car off and restart it, the seat setting will go back the orginal setting.
I went to the dealer on Monday and everything worked fine for them and there were no codes or messages showing that any of the items listed above went out.
I have read post's dealing with each individual issue but I didn't find anything where all 5 issues started happening at the same time. Turning off the car seems to reset the issues so not sure what that means.
Does it sound like one particular thing is starting to go out that controls all of these items or is it just a coincidence that all of these items are going out at the same time? I have owned 2 TL's prior to this RL and I'm just wondering if this is a by product of having a car with so many "bells and whistles". Both my TL's ran like champs until 165k+ miles without ANY issues.
BTW, the battery was checked by the dealer and it's not the problem.
Thanks,
Cariboo

I'd replace the battery anyway even if they claim it works fine. A bad/weak battery would explain all of your issues.

Make sure the fob is linked as well. That could explain the car not saving seat memory settings. Does it say "Welcome Driver 1" when you start the car or just "Welcome"?
Also, I'd leave the CMBS on all the time. Not sure why you'd shut it off - it's not really that obtrusive in everyday driving.
