I have a 06 RL with 157k miles that has only required basic maintenance up until the past few months. I'm now having the following issues:

1) car doesn't recognize the key remote AFTER starting the car (yes, I replaced the batteries in the remote).
2) sporatically, the drivers side door doesn't recognize the keys and won't unlock the doors when I touch the handle. It will open if I hit the unlock button on the remote.
3) Hands free will not properly answer calls when I hit the answer button on the steering wheel. This happens 50% of the time.
4) I have never used the CMBS until turning it on a month ago. After one week, I was on the higway cruising along and the CMBS and cruise went out and an error message popped up. I drove to the dealer and they couldn't duplicate the CMBS shutting down. They thought it COULD be either the $800 front sensor or $3000 to replace the whole CMBS unit. I chose to turn the CMBS off and it has never acted up again.


I have read post's dealing with each individual issue but I didn't find anything where all 4 issues started happening at the same time.

Does it sound like one particular thing is starting to go out that controls all of these items or is it just a coincidence that all of these items are going out at the same time? I have owned 2 TL's prior to this RL and I'm just wondering if this is a by product of having a car with so many "bells and whistles". Both my TL's ran like champs until 165k+ miles without ANY issues.

Please add to the list that my audio just went silent after entering an address into my navi. There has to be something major going on to now have all of these issues happening at the same time!

Have you ruled out a dieing battery.

And did the radio go silent because it was giving you directions and the voice was turned down?

Get a new battery for the car, RL's eat them up.

All of that does sound like a dying battery and, personally, I hope that's what it is. 157k is respectable mileage!

I also forgot to mention that the seat memory doesn't stay on the new settings. When I start the car, it goes back to what I had prior to creating a new setting.

The car starts fine, but I should still check the battery?

I'm taking it to the dealer on Monday and will report back what they tell me.

did you link the key FOB to the car? sometime if u pressed and hold the button too long, it'll un-pair with your car....

I got my RL back from the dealer on Monday and they couldn't find anything wrong and the issues I was experiencing, they couldn't duplicate. They checked the battery and it's good so they don't have any idea.

Does anyone else have any suggestion? I will probably post this issue to the main RL page to get more suggestions.
