05 w/ 175k engine/vsa/sh-awd lights on

05 rl with 175k

drove car to a friends house no lights on dash after sitting for the day while we were at work came back and started my car
the car started fine but kicked on all the lights

check emissions
vsa
the triangle. /!\
sh-awd

hooked up scanner and had the following

p0385
83-1

clear codes and they come back as soon as the car starts

swapped out the crank sensor (did timing belt and water pump while in there) still have the problem lights

i have driven the car over 200 miles and still drives fine with the lights on

only thing i have noticed is making a low speed turn and coasting the chugs/bucks a little bit once i get back on the throttle to continue driving it’s fine
this happened 2 times in one day

what else can i test and look for please help

DTC 83 is "No VSP signal", Looks that VSP is vehicle speed signal. Going through the SM to see what it means. You have a TPMS light on?

yes the tpms does come on after driving for 2-3 min
this has been like this for years i thought this was for tire pressure?

Yes it is, but the TPMS unit has communication with the PCM. That is what code 83 is. Your gauges and navi normal?

On the LCD in the gauge. There should be a TPMS section. In the section it should say "Tire Pressures OK/Abnormal" and something like "Systems Normal". You might have to press the trip button on that screen to get it.

I think the 2 codes are unrelated. There might be a wiring issue by the TPMS computer. Same might be true of the P0385.

OK though without a lot of posts on this forum yet, you may not be aware that a sketchy battery, (yes, they occur often on these cars.....while still cranking the car just fine) can give you a load of false warnings and odd indications. You may want to have it checked out. Just sayin'....

Well, send a pic, but I'm gonna say that it is 83. If this has been going on for years, then 83 won't be solved by a battery.

Also the AFS light may be part of the cause of the VSA light. I think it relies on the level sensor for inputs. Here is a link for the level sensor.

Quick update
went and had the battery checked out gentleman at AutoZone, hooked it up to the tester. It tested fine. We stood there. Spoke for a minute then he decided to hook the tester back up to check something else to see if the alternator and starter were working properly ……. the battery failed the test. The second time he hooked the terminals to it. They swapped out the battery, so I have a new battery now lights are still on.

Idk if anyone is paying attention to this thread but……

update::::::

took it to a local Honda/acura shop

gave them the run down of what i have done and replaced

shop comes back to be with….
So we ran the codes and see you have multiple lights on
we recommend to replace crank sensor ( which i already explained i did that )

they insisted that i need to use Honda oem parts so they need to start with replacing that @ $888.63 for the part and labor

i ask if they do this and find nothing will i have to pay for the part

short answer is yes i get stuck with the bill

in at a loss for words here and tell them go for it cause i need to have this fixed

fast forward couple days later

sir we replaced the part and same issue ( well no duhhh i told you i did this already)

we would like for you to come down so we can show you what we found….

well I’m at work and it would be too late for me to get there before you close
ok well we found a bunch of wires chewed up
we will send pictures
quote for harness over $7000

well looks like I’m going to be doing some soldering and eBay shopping

OOF. That'll cause a few issues. Very unusual damage. They look melted. I think someone jumped it backwards. Well good luck in both finding all the matching color wires and all the solder you are going to use.

I have a 05 RL myself and it is throwing all system lights as well. So you found out it was the wiring harness? I’ve been trying to figure out what is wrong because I just bought mine a week and a half ago and on the way home with it all system lights came on 🤦🏼‍♀️ but also my navigation screen is out. But it is back light so idk. Feel like I got completely screwed over on this car.

I started having problems starting on Sunday and yesterday. But it would start just fine if we moved the battery cables a little so we went and got post caps and put on it but still doing it. So yeah I’m going to go have the battery checked today. I was going to just sale the car and find something else.

I'd replace the cable and then clear the codes. It should not move at all when tightened. Don't jerry rig a cable. Get OEM if you can. Also, to clear the codes you need a scan tool through the OBD II port. Disconnecting the battery won't erase some codes.

You might have some animals chewing on your cables...mice, squirrels, etc.
