$7436 of damage.
Well I have been reluctant to write this because I'm a bit embarrassed. I just made my first payment on my CPO 05 RL and now it's at the body shop with $7436 worth of damage. I slid on some black ice last week getting on a ramp and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I ended up hitting a guard rail and popping up onto the guard rail and then coming back down onto the road. It sucked and although it seemed like an eternity waiting to hit the guardrail because brakes nor awd could help me at that point it was over in a flash. Most of the damage is underneath and three rims are bent. I was told that most of the damage is suspension and he told me what seemed like hundreds of shields underneath. I took it to a really good body shop that has done work for me before. I just hope there is no frame damage. Also they said they need to replace two of the tires so I'm going to have them replace all four and pay for the other two. I will save some of the money from my deductible because I'm going to go with the Dunlop SP Sport 5000's instead of the Michelins. Also I'm sure the damage cost will go up as they find more.
Very sorry to hear but nothing to be embarrassed about, it could have happened to anyone of us. There is little to help when black ice is involved. I have that car lifted and gone over very well once complete. Sounds like a lot of work and invariably something will get missed even at the best shops
Oh, man!
Don't be embarrassed. The weather the last three weeks in Cleveland has been abysmal and there's nothing you can do about black ice. I've nearly spun a couple of times myself in the last week, but the fact that my tires are virtually brand new helps out a lot, as well as that I'm used to the driving dynamics after 2 1/4 years with the car.
Just think of it this way: The car did its job, to protect you, and so you are alive to post about this.

glad that you're ok. like its been said before, nothing anyone can do about black ice. trips up the best of us. and it doesn't help anything that the stock Michelins are completely worthless in the winter. hope you're back on the road with your RL in no time.
SOrry to hear about your car man, hope it works out well
I'd also take it to a few other places, even the stealership, to see exactly what is wrong, and make sure you have it looked over by acura after it is fixed, regardless of where u get it fixed.

I have stock Michelins on mine, but drive MAD slow in the RL during snow and ice. I hate these tires but waiting for winter to end to buy a set of better wheels/tires. Anyway, sucks about all that damage I would of prob had a heart attack.. soo guess your handlin it well doood.
Thanks guys I appreciate all the good wishes. I ended up choosing 4 new Toyo Versado's instead of Dunlop’s. Also since the Toyo's are about $75 less each than the Michelins that the insurance company was going to pay for they are going to take that off my deductible! This is where I'm taking it they do great work; http://www.dcrsystems.net/metro/ just fixed my dads SC430, though I probably will have to go back at least once. I might be getting some snow tires next year.
Ice sucks. I was driving to work the other morning and stepped on the brakes so I could make a left turn. Nothing other than the ABS pulses. The car didn't even slow down. Luckily, the right lane was clear and I was able to steer around the line of stopped cars in front of me. Otherwise, it could have been pretty expensive as I'd imagine the CMBS adds a little to the cost of front end repairs.
