Tpms

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the dumb question but I am hoping that the folks who perform their own tire rotation/swap can help me. I am considering investing in getting the tools to do my own tire rotation and/or swapping my 4 season tires with rims with the winter sets (and rims with built in TPMS). My question is the following, are Acura's sensor self learning or do one have to make the sensors get reprogrammed when you swap them from one location to the next. I heard that some brand, you have to do some special sequence to get the TPMS to recognize its new position on the vehicle.

I would appreciate any input....Also, I assume it would be the same on my 2012 TL as well.

Drive the vehicle for at least 40 seconds at a speed
of 24 km/h (15 mph) or more, and all sensor IDs will
be memorized automatically.

Much appreciate the quick response. That is the answer I was hoping to hear.

I forgot to mention that answer was RDX specific. It may or may not apply to the TL although I strongly suspect it does. I just have not checked.

OK, I just checked on the TL for you and basically it does work the same as the RDX, however, if you were to have Acura install the Accessory 19" TL wheels they use that HDS to change the low pressure threshold so when you go back to the factory wheels Acura would have to use their HDS again to reset the low pressure threshold back to standard. I don't know how big the difference in the pressure threshold is but it sounds like if it applied to me I would just skip it.

I'm wondering...I had the 1st service 2 weeks ago, with tire rotation. The right rear tire reading was always 1 pound lower than the rest, cold; and 3 to 4 lbs lower, hot. After the rotation, it's STILL the right rear that reads lower, with the same differences. Can't believe they didn't rotate, because they charged me for it.

Would this situation in any way relate to learning, or failing to learn, on the part of the TPMS?
