Replacing the alternator

Replacing the alternator
hey guys,
ive googled and searched the hell out of this but I only get first gen results so I figured I’d ask here...
recently ive had the charging system error pop up on my 2013 rdx. It comes on whenever the AC is turned on. So I swapped out the battery with a brand new one and still had the same issue.
I bought a multimeter, battery was good at 12.6. Turned the car on and went up to 14. Then I had the wife turn on the AC and boom, started dropping below 12.6 even with revving it to 2000rpm. I had her turn the AC off but the battery never recovered.
Does this sound like a faulty alternator? And if so, are the instructions on replacing it the same as the first gen rdx/mdx?
Thanks guys

If there is an Advanced Auto Parts or Auto Zone store near you, they will check the charging system for free. If the problem is not the battery or the starter, it's most likely the alternator.

Assuming it's the original alternator, only way to be sure is to either bench test it or replace it to see if it fixes the condition. If the bearings have gone bad you can hear it. Before replacing the alternator check that the battery terminals are clean and make good contact. Also check the wiring from the alternator to the battery has not been damaged or that the belt is turning the alternator properly (no squealing or uneven rotations). I doubt the instructions are the same with the older RDX as they have two different engines. But alternators are pretty simple in that you disconnect the electrical harness(es) (first disconnect the battery) and unscrew the bolts then reverse the process. Location and access are going to be different per car.
