Rear hatch latch w/power tailgate
Rear hatch latch w/power tailgate
My only experience with a power tailgate was in my '13 MDX. Its function was that when you hit the button, the hatch opened, and there was virtual silence as the rear hatch latch released to let the hatch begin to rise. Maybe the slight sound of the motor opening the latch is all you could hear. Same with the closing.
My '15 RDX tech behaves differently in one manner - and that's at the initial release of the hatch. Where with the MDX the release of the latch was silent, with the RDX there's a pop sound - similar to the releasing of a tight trunk or door if you were doing it manually. The closing sound is much quieter.
I initially thought that maybe the rubber adjusters on the edges of the hatch were too tight (causing the pressure to pop the hatch when the latch let go), but loosening them (screwing them inward) didn't change the sound. Obviously I'm tempted to bring it to the dealer and have them check the latch, but wanted to check here first to just see whether that's the sound the hatch makes when it opens via the power release with others' RDX models.
Thanks - andy
