Brake noise after driving through sleet/freezing rain
Brake noise after driving through sleet/freezing rain
So I just drove from DC to Philadelphia yesterday during the massive sleet storm/freezing rain along the I-95 corridor, and ever since then, have been noticing a loud grinding noise (lasting 1-2 seconds) after I let my foot off the brake. This only occurs when I've come to a complete stop and only lifting my foot off the brake (not pressing the brake). I have a 2015 AWD Tech RDX with 1000 miles. I drove through a lot of slush/sand/salt for 130+ miles, and my car was pretty encased in ice when I finally reached my garage - is this rust/debris, and do I just need a good car wash/application of the brakes for a longer drive? Thanks!
high moisture = easy surface rust. pad wipe it off with one stop. you really should apply copper based anti-seize to your pad ears, shims, and pads where they contact the calipers. It will help eliminate the noise from the pads moving around slightly when you first brake (forwards or backwards)
