Oil Pan issue

Oil Pan issue
We bought our Certified pre-owned 2015 RDX from the dealer. It had 9,700 miles on it. The car now has 27,000 miles on it and has only been serviced by the dealer we bought the car from. They pointed out that a threaded insert had been previously installed in the oil pan for the drain plug was faulty. They replaced it with a new insert. Is this repair satisfactory or should I demand a new oil pan? We paid for the 120,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

If you have a warranty, I would ask for a new oil pan. f the dealer was the only person to service the car, then some oil changing monkey overtorqued the drain plug and broke it. Thus, they should fix. it. Inserts would theoretically be stronger, but I'd still prefer them not overtorquing in the first place.. Also, that's sort of what warranties are for so get your money's worth!!

I am sure the dealer will not replace the oil pan even if you ask them to.
1. It might be necessary to lift or remove the engine to do so, or remove a lot of assemblies and parts from below the engine. (and sometimes new issues are created by this kind of surgery.
2. Although unlikely, the oil pan may not be replaceable.
3. If its not leaking, they wont deem it necessary since there is no issue to resolve.
