New Acura 2014 RDX Tech Owner - Looking for help solving a problem Subscribed

Sometimes when I start the car I hear a whirling sound. It doesn’t seem to correlate to anything. Fan on or off and accelerating do nothing. Almost sounds like its trying to Burn a CD or 2 gears in the CD drive are making a sounds. It will do it for a while then stop.... Any idea what this might be? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Do I need to replace the HDD is there an easier solution?

attaching a link - would appreciate any help! thanks!

Does your model/year have a hard drive? That will spin as well upon start up. You might try selecting a different source before shutting down and see if that defaults
on start up instead of the CD player. Otherwise, it is always going to check for a disk.

It does have an HDD - I tried the source thing but I still happens
worst case I swap out the entire HDD - but that’s not cheap
so if I can troubleshoot anything else really appreciate the suggestions!

When did it start? Could it be cold weather related?
You might try leaving a disk in the CD drive and see if that affects the sound.

Just started randomly - I tried leaving a disc and also tried a disc cleaner - but unfortunately no luck yet
