Highway Speeds, Strange Sounds, Not Engine
Highway Speeds, Strange Sounds, Not Engine
I think I may know the cause but wanted to check this forum first.
When travelling at high speeds (60+) there is a muffled flapping noise that is clearly on the exterior passenger side. I suspect it is a missing piece of rubber that runs from the front to the rear in the roof channel where a roof rack would be installed. Anyone else have this issue? Since I don't know what this part of the car looked like before my hypothesis, I don't know if what I am thinking is the issue is correct. When looking at parts diagrams for the roof, I do see a drip molding part on the page:
https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...3-tx4-a01.html
which may be what I need.
(And I just got new tires for a quieter ride and now I hear this flapping nonsense).
Anyone else have this issue and fix it?
PS - still like this car after all these year and that it's been paid off is even sweeter.

That flapping noise you here could be from the lower engine cover. That cover is the full width of the car and wraps around up into the wheel well on both sides. There are about 20 push-tite retainer clips that hold it in place. It is a real PIA to r &r that cover.
Thanks! I will do more work to check this as a possible cause. I have been adamant that it's coming from the top, but my kiddo said today that it sounds like it's beneath us. With that feedback and your post, I can't rule anything out yet.
