Who's got a roof rack?

Looking to get into an RDX and need it to be able to haul a few bikes. The hitch rack thing isnt doing it for me. Too much work taking it on and off. Ive always run a roof rack on my TSX and Integra and love the idea of a roof rack always being there, not need to take it on or off.

A few questions for the roof rack RDXers..

-Did it affect gas mileage at all?
-Did it increase wind noise significantly?

These are the two biggest "knocks" on roof rack carriers and just wondering what to what affect they come into play with RDX roof racks.

Thanks much.

I have the roof rack, but I only have cross bars on it on during the winter months for when I go snowboarding.

1. I can't really answer as MPG goes down in the cold.
2. I don't really notice any noise when the bars and ski racks are on.

It may be quite a reach for you to place your bike on top of roof rack unless you get one that already has running boards.

I've never had it without the roof rack so can't comment on gas mileage but you didn't purchase the car for that in the first place so why worry about it now. As for wind noise it's very limited. I don't even notice it if there is any.

I have a roof rack and the sunroof visor since owning the RDX. The roof rack looks somewhat aerodynamic to minimize drag (sloping side rails and oval shaped cross bars. I think if you left the roof rack attachments on (ski rack, bike rack, snow board, etc..) then I could see mpgs being effected and producing extra noise.

You could alway remove the cross bars when not in use; that might help a little.

I have had crossbars on my RDX since I bought it, so I don't know how much "quiet" it would be without them, I can just say that the crossbars' added noise is not unbearable.
As far as mpgs, it must decrease them, how much? I don't really know, but I am assuming that you are not just going to ride around with the bikes on top all the time.
I decided against the roof rack for the RDX because I didn't really see myself trying to load up a couple of bikes on a tall vehicle. I think that you would need to carry around a step ladder with you in order to do that procedure safely. OR purchase one of those fancy self loading racks.....
The RDX is not a quiet vehicle to begin with, so perhaps the added wind noise won't bother you that much.

I put the Thule Ski Attachments on in the winter and I notice a lot more noise and reduced MPG. With the attachements, I got around 19MPG on the highway (with snowboards on top too) without it, I get between 22-24 depending on how heavy my foot is.

I don't think that you will find anyone interested in selling theirs. If you remove the roof rack you need new trim pieces that are chopped when you install it. Not worth it if you ask me.
