Brakes Squeal Again...
Brakes Squeal Again...
So I had the front brakes replaced by dealer because it was squealing. Today, I was going down a hill and I heard my brakes squealed like crazy when going down. Do you guys think that I should try to get the dealer to replace them for me? Or should I replace them on my own.
The car just hit 19k miles.
I'm pretty sure the brake noise was from the back brakes.

I have 19K on mine and have never heard any squeal. The pads usually have anti-squeal metal shims on the outsides of the pads. If you want to try something on your own, go to a parts store and get some disc brake anti-squeal paste (I use CRC Disc Brake Quiet, but many other brands are available). Install on the outboard side of the pads where they contact the metal parts of the caliper, and then re-assemble. One other thing you can do to the pads is chamfer the leading and trailing edges of the pads with a file. This is the way many new pads are made to reduce squealing noise.
The brake squeal is a known/acknowledged issue on the RDX. Our '14 RDX has the same problem and when we reported it to the dealer they told us it was a problem with the RDXs and Acura was working on a fix.... They left the pads/rotors, etc. as is and we are having to live with it. Sure doesn't seem right to me, but I have it documented on the Acura dealer's service report.

Front breaks squel
my front breaks squel all the time and the stupid dealer gave me some alloborate description which i dont understand i am just living with it..but when even i listen that horrible sound it feels like i should bang my head to the steering wheel.feels like i am driving a 10 yr old car...can some one suggest what should i do
On a straight, quiet stretch of road, do 4-5 hard braking runs from 40 mph to 0. Then drive the car for 5 minutes normally to let the brakes cool down. See if that helps.
If it doesn't, and I would assume the car is still under warranty, take it back to the dealer and tell them that the brake squeal is unacceptable. Ask them to replace the pads, rotors and calipers, and to hold the B.S.

if you took it into the dealer once and they cannot fix it, then why go back to that same place?
this is what you do and it will take about an hour or tow of your time depending upon how FAST you are
Before starting get some copper based anti-seize and park car on a LEVEL surface
1. loosen lugs
2. jack car up
3. remove wheel
4. remove top caliper bolt and swing caliper forwards allowing for removal of pads
5. take pads off car
6. take cooper based anti-seize and put it on the following areas
a. brake shims
b. pad ears
c. back of pads where they contact calipers (if you have shims on the back of the pads between the pads and caliper, coat each side of the shim)
7. reinstall pads with shims (if any)
8. swing caliper back into position and reinstall bolt
9. replace wheel and finger tighten lugs
10. lower car and tighten lugs
repeat for other 3 wheels
brake squeal is typically caused by the metal parts moving around when you apply the brakes and this 100% fixes that. It DOES NOT FIX brake squeal caused by pads that are very hard (ceramic for example). the copper stuff will definitely last as long as the brakes do....
I have done this with every car I have owned from a 1992 Sable to the current ones in my sig and I have yet to hear any brake squeal and I use ceramic pads on all of my cars.
