oem trailer hitch

Has anyone added the oem trailer hitch and wiring loom to their second gen RDX? If so is it bolted or welded. I'm going to need a hitch and see that there is a factory accessory.

Don't waste your money on an OEM hitch. Go onto Etrailer.com. Choose your vehicle, and a list of available hitches come up. They even have videos on how to install them, The RDX just bolts in. It's less than an hour with two people (one to hold in place while you turn a wrench).
They also sell the "plug and play" trailer wire harness. Again, easy to install. They give you a fuse you will have to install in the fuse box on the drivers side of the firewall. I use mine for a bike rack. The maximum trailering load is 1,500 pounds.

Thank you for this... my dealer wanted over $800 (Cdn) for this and it's only a class 1 hitch.
$150 includes the plug and play wiring unit.

I have the OEM hitch and wiring but I negotiated it into the purchase as I needed it ASAP. On my '06 TL, I went with Hidden Hitch and a wiring harness from ETrailer. Had to do some drilling for the hitch but the harness was plug and play. I will say that, when not in use, the OEM hitch does look good and barely noticeable.

Etrailer is the way to go. I have a used class 3, Hidden Hitch, 2 inch, off my 2014 RDX if anyone is interested. Asking $50. No wires. New York or Philly area to meet, not interested in shipping.

thanks for the advice. I will be adding a hitch just to use a bike rack. Good to know you get them in 2” receiver sizes.

Trans coolers are normally hooked up when installing a hitch. Anyone have a pic where they have the cooler installed along with the DIY ?

another vote for e-trailer

I got a 2" hitch from e-trailer and it's solid. EZ plug and play install--with two adults, anyway. Trying to do it solo led to so much cursing a neighbor across the street came to lend me a hand.

I put a 1.25" on my 2005 TL. It was similarly easy, DIY, but one of the mounts required drilling through the trunk pan and bolting there. Over many years, that bolt started hogging out the trunk pan and so wobbled. I added some washers, but given the super thinness of the trunk pan, the TL hitch mount was not so burly. The RDX version bolts solidly all around.
