ECU tuning available (it seems)

Check this out, not much info yet, I don't know if this new, I just found it by web search, seems you need to do it through a dealer though, any thought?

I had not heard about it, did not see anything about improving fuel mileage if not taking advantage of the other benefits.

With another 10% of power, you better have AWD. Their reference to "dealer" meant, one of their dealers and not a Acura stealer dealer. There is a map showing the locations.

An Acura dealer is not going to cotton to messing with or removing their factory ECU. If you get my drift? Better to wait until you vehicle is out of warrantee.

No. Its very hard to tune the j-series engine.

There are a few ways but this is not it.
Hondata just released a flash for the 07-08 TLs.
Despite what this website says, its hard to tune the j-series.

Furthermore, this website doesn't tell you anything about the product, just empty promises. Don't waste your hard earned dollars on this crock of bs.

No biggie, it's not as if the RDX was slow to begin with, that thing moves like a V8.

This is a situation where you need to stick with the proven commodity like Hondata.

Not that I know of. I was just saying that if/when Hondata launches an ECU upgrade for the 2013+ RDX then that would be the probable best choice. They are proven to provide stable systems and reliability.

most of the ECU tuning companies have tuners for Turbo engines.

For the 6 cylinder you have 273 hp and 251 torque

A 10 hp boost gets you to 300 HP (would you notice the difference?)

There is no mention to the tirque upgrade but the Turbo tuning companies boast 20-30 ft pounds of torque which gets you to the 270-280 area. If passing someone while entering a highway up a hill you may notice that. In this case I don't think a tuner is needed, especially when it can invalidate the warranty. If you wait 5 years until the warranty expires then you will be adding it to a 5 year old vehicle that has at least 60k miles on it. A 2009 RDX with 60k miles goes for about 17-20k and has 240hp and 260 torque. The base model of the new Santa Fe Sport is about 30k MSRP and gets 264hp and 269 torque while being 5 years more modern with some more advanced features not in the 2009 RDX. I am not saying to swap an Acura for a Hyundai but you need to look at replacement value of a similar vehicle before such an upgrade.

For comparisons:
BMW X3 28i has 240hp and 260 torque
Mercedes GLK has 302hp and 273 torque
Audi Q5 has 220hp and 258 torque
Lexus NX has 235hp and 258 torque
Lincoln MKC 2.0 has 240hp and 270 torque
Acura MDX / TLX has 290hp and 267 torque for the V6 engine

BMW and Audi take the approach of providing nice hp but focussing on torque. While some may be technical I see it like a long distance runner vs. a sprinter. HP numbers are like the long distance runner where you need a strong engine to sustain your speed over the lifetime of the vehicle where torque is the acceleration and sprint to pass someone on the road. The calculations do work together so it is not as straightforward as I laid it out.

I didn't want to start a new thread about the same thing, but www.Jetchip.com seems to have a tuning option for the 2013 RDX, it's the Import ECU Upgrade Kit (65002) for $399, and in the "compatible vehicles" list the RDX is listed. Thoughts!

The JET Performance Import Computer Upgrade Package is the solution to performance tuning import and domestic sport compact vehicles. Import computers do not have computer chips that are easily removed, making it necessary for JET engineers to either reprogram the vehicle’s existing chip or remove and replace the chip by desoldering it from the circuit board. The kit provides you with all the materials required to safely send your vehicle computer to JET’s lab for a high performance software upgrade. Once we receive your ECU it will be programmed according to the information you provide on the vehicle specification sheet to optimize performance and mileage to match your specific modifications. JET's exclusive Dynamic Spectrum Tuning provides optimal performance across the entire power band-not just at full throttle. Programming includes extensive modification to air/fuel ratios, ignition advance and boost pressures for turbo applications.
