Exclamation Reprogram 2013 RDX key

My driver 2 key fell down and stopped functioning. Is it possible to reprogram it.
Alternatively, I can buy another one (maybe off ebay) - Does it have to be a Driver 2 key, or can I have two driver 1 keys?
Again, is it possible to program it myself or do I need to take it to a locksmith/dealer and shell out the $100+ for it?

Thx
Karthik

Bring to dealer & say it stopped working, they'll replace.

If you find a good deal on a driver 1 , you can order thr backplate eith driver 2 if your anal for about 15$ from the parts area

Thank you Type X. Is this the part I need to get?
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

It says price is 79.95 and hence the confusion.

And I would need to take it in to a dealer for re=programming right? Is there no way for me to reprogram it?

Any new key must be programmed by the dealer. You'll need to have the other key with you as well (your key 1) and be prepared to pay $150 or so for the key cutting and programming. Keys from another car (ie something bought on eBay) cannot be used.

Many dealers will do a goodwill replacement once for a damaged keyfob. Why are you reluctant to go to the dealer?

Keys are designed to withstand "normal" wear (including an occasional drop) with no damage other than cosmetic issues. If you merely "dropped" your key from a normal height (off the top of the Empire State building doesn't count) then it shouldn't have "broken".

Hi ceb,
It did drop from a great height - down the elevator shaft actually.
WRT dealer, as you have mentioned, just wanted to know if there was a way around not having to spend 150 dollars.
In any case, could you please let me know if the link I had is the link to purchase a new fob?

Your link goes to the ignition cylinder, not the remote fob. It'll cost you $200-$300 to replace the key - or you can spend weeks looking for something on the net that doesn't work, spend $100 on parts and THEN spend $200-$300 to get a fob that works.

Get a quote for a fob from an internet dealer (Bernardi, Curry etc) and use that to price match at your dealer.

I just bought a used 2014 RDX with two key fobs that say driver 1 on them. can I go to the dealer to get one off these fobs reprogrammed to driver 2? both key fobs work to unlock the vehicle using the remote button. Also, I think this is already confirmed not possible, but is there anyway to have the key fob (bought off ebay or a site (i.e. replacemyremote.com) re-programmed if it was from another vehicle?

thanks!
