Power Up With Door Open Mod?

Just wondering, has anyone done or even heard of a mod that will power up the Gen2 nav/entertainment system and power points when the driver's door is opened? A Ford Edge I recently sold did this and it was nice having everything already spun up even before engine start. The RDX hard drive is so pokey it'd be nice to get even a few seconds head start.

Thanks!

Would a remote start do that? I have no idea, just a thought.

That would be a great mod. Often the screen is still loading up as I'm backing out of my driveway. It's so slow and the interface is not intuitive

That was a great idea and I tried it. No luck. Remote start gets the AC going and the dashboard lights up but no power to the Infotainment system or power ports.
What if..... What if power was jumpered from something like the interior light circuit to the radio/power ports through a timer that would keep power flowing for 30 seconds (long enough to get the vehicle started). That auxiliary power would cut off and everything would be powered up normally. That would be so easy if this was 1956 but computers tend to get a little fussy about power spikes and such.

Ok Android Auto first then I'll start probing around a bit to see if an early spool up of the infotainment system is in the cards. Meanwhile if someone else has already done this or has an idea, speak up!

Cheers!

It just seems like an oversight by Acura. I understand there's a lot more technology and electronics involved, but my 06 X3 would spin up the CD/DVD player as soon as you open the door. There shouldn't be any reason why Acura doesn't or didn't implement the same strategy. Is it the same with the Gen 3 models?

Someone with a gen3 will have to let us know (and I suspect they don't spend a lot of time in this part of Acurazine). It's probable the old school hard drive has been replaced with solid state memory so is a whole bunch faster and less energy hungry. Hmm maybe the dual screens and all the old school tech pull so much juice the engineers feared for the battery or ..didn't want a sudden voltage drop (starting the engine) to hit some part of the system. We'll never know.
Anyway, another project is afoot, parts are being collected etc. Stay tuned.

Cheers!
