iPhone 6 and RDX - text messaging issue
I just received my new iPhone 6 yesterday. Spent some time last night to get it set-up, sync'd, and so on. Just went out to the garage to pair it with my '13 RDX (AWD, Non-Tech).
I was able to delete my old iPhone 4 and pair my new iPhone 6 without issue. However, text messaging does not work. I wasn't expecting to be able to send a text - that has NEVER worked - but I certainly didn't expect the system to regress! Now I can't even receive a text message on the display or have it read aloud.
What gives? Anybody else have this problem?

I'm having the same problem with my 6 Plus. Actually even with the iPhone 5 those features stopped after IOS 7.1. I went to the dealer and had no luck. I too was able to receive a text message on the display or have it read aloud. I get the message "Phone doesn't support text message function."

sending text message from the car doesn't work. I did some research but couldn't find it now. It is because Apple iOS doesn't support a specific SMS protocol.
However, Siri is easier and more useful to send text messages. If you have siri eyefree installed, even better. Car can only send a fixed messages like "i'm driving, call you back" etc. With siri, you can send any message.

I have the same issue. Just got Siri Eyes Free on my 2013 RDX. What software version do you have in your iphone? Text reading was working for me before upgrade.
Dealer is useless for software issues.

I have Siri eyes free which I find useful for quickly sending and receiving text messages. However the recent upgrade to iOS 8 that allows a plugged in phone to automatically respond to "hey Siri" is even more useful. I attach my iPhone 6 to the HVAC vent. Hey Siri is faster than Eyes Free and I can quickly confirm the message without waiting for Siri to finish repeating the message.

2016 RDX Advanced
I bought my RDX three weeks ago. I previously had a 2007 RDX and love it.
I love the ride, but there are some tech issues. One is with the iPhone 6. I find that voice calling isn't very accurate. Even with voice tags that are specific it brings up the entire list of entries that have that word. As an example if I say call John Smith it will bring up any entry in my phone book that has John in it.
I spoke to Acura service about this and they said there are known problem with the iPhone 6. They said Apple was making a software change to fix it but had now timeline.
I'm not very happy about this. The iPhone is still the biggest selling phone and they have issues with it with no timeline for resolution.

Based upon what Acura told you it appears to be an Apple problem. I would try to escalate it to Apple if at all possible.

Try: Avoid sharing voice tags with person's name. Example: Use voice tag "Wife" instead of Jane Smith when there is Jane Smith, Jane Brown, Jane Blue...etc.
Try: linking 1 phone number with contacts instead of linking 2.
Good luck and keep us posted.
