I'm upgrading my low beam bulbs from HIDs to Headlight Expert LED I've seen a couple of people you've talked about them, so I'm going for it. I've looked far and wide and no where have I seen anyone make a post about removing the old bulbs that doesn't include removing the bumper.
I've only removed the passenger side so far, as I have to remove the battery to work on the driver's side, and I'm waiting for the bulbs to come in. My passenger side bulb is dead.
As others have mentioned, There's a grey cover that needs to be removed, all it takes is about a quarter turn to the car's right or your left if your facing the car.
Then reach in and remove the HID drive, another small turn to the car's right.
Now comes the fun part, you have to reach in and disengage the clips.
To disengage them, you'll need to push towards the center, then towards you, towards the bulb and then forward to the outside. Then the clip drops down, and the bulb will pop right out. It's a tight space and a bit finicky, but I was able to get the bulb out in a few minutes.
Clips disengaged:
I've not done the reverse process yet but will report back. This is much easier than removing the bumper. If you had the parts, I think it would take 30 minutes or less to do both sides.
The LED "Kit" I bought came with just the bulbs, no instructions or anything else. I would have had to take the front bumper off to get to the ballasts and the wires to wire the bulbs. I returned them and put in OSRAM Xenarc Night Breaker Laser Xenons. Much easier to install. I'm happy with them.
