Driver 1 and 2 FOB Issue

Hi everyone,

I did search the forum but couldn’t find anything that matched the issue I’m having. My wife has a 2018 RDX w/ tech package. She has the Driver #1 key and I have the other one. Whenever she accessed the vehicle, after I’ve been using it. The radio presets, associated with her key, will not change. They stay on my presets. Even if she hits the #1 memory adjustment, it still doesn’t change. To get this to work for her again, we have to lock the car and unlock it. Then the presets change to the driver 1 FOB. I haven’t found a way to make her FOB the primary one. Am I missing something here or is this normal for this vehicle?

make sure her key is the #2 key and you are locking the car after you use it. The unlock from the remote (#1 or #2) tell the car what presets to load. Pressing the Mem buttons on door moves seats and mirrors

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it. We will start doing this then. We keep the car unlocked in our garage at night. I’ll start locking it after I use it.

Interesting. My car belongs to a different group (2010 TL 4G) but for me, just opening the door when the car is unlocked, the car adjusts to either 1 or 2 based on whichever Fob is nearby when the door is opened.

So do our RDX. Depending on the key, it will adjust the settings accordingly. It just didn’t work correctly if I used the vehicle last, and didn’t lock it. Then when my wife goes to use it with her key. The seats/mirrors adjusted, but not her presets. Now I will just lock it when I use the vehicle last.

Same with our 2014 RDX. However, it seems to prefer my wife...if we both have our fobs it will often set to her settings even tho I open the driver's side door. It even does that if I have both fobs in my pocket. Kind of funny actually. She says the car just likes her better.

I think (it has been a while since I went through all the settings) that you can choose how the key 1/key 2 behaves. Like if it changes everything or not. You might double check that.

Thanks, I’ll have another look. I might have missed something.
