whats with the temp sensor ?

Parked car outside after driving at single digits temp. Came back in an hour or so, started the car and it shows 25 degrees...it takes about 10 min or so of driving to get correct temp....i.e. single digits ...

My other car (Highlander) seems to remember last valid temperature ....

Anyone else seeing that ?

Yep. Its reading engine heat left over from your last trip. I don't think it gets good airflow so it takes a few minutes driving to get a semi accurate read. Mine is also about 3 degrees warmer than most road side temp signs at banks etc.

Yep, the sensor is under the front of the hood area, and residual heat from the engine will affect it when it's parked for awhile. The owners manual makes reference to that, and says you'll need to drive it a few minutes before it starts giving an accurate reading.

All my cars have done that.

And Amber - if you think your readout is wrong, you can adjust it in the setup menu.

Also takes a while to adjust if you go from your garage to outside and if you park in the sun. Operating as designed.

also the temp may be different where you are compared to what the media is reporting. cities are typically a few degrees warmer than the burbs...and country side.

We play a little game when pulling out of the garage into the cold, each guessing "how low will it go?"
