Weird A/C issues
Weird A/C issues
So let me start off by saying I love my RDX!! One of the best cars I have even owned.
Ok, on to the problem. When in Auto mode at say 70 degrees with an outside temp of 93, the air coming out of the registers will warm up and cool down at random times. I can hear the compressor cycling on and off. The problem is the air warms up and then becomes humid.
If i put the system in complete manual, the cycling is not as frequent and much less noticeable.
I know the system is extremely high tech. I just can't figure out what is going on.
Another thing I have noticed is that whether in recirculate or outside air it pulls in a set amount. Prob like 30% outside and 70% recirc.
I can't figure it out. Any other people experiencing the same?

We live in Texas and it's over 95 most days and the ac on auto works fine as far as we are concerned. We usually keep the temp on both sides around 73 to 77. Cold air blows consistently. Try using a slightly higher auto temp and see if your results get better.
If not, get it checked at the dealer.

The tech package includes a GPS adjusted HVAC system that - at least according to the design - will adjust the system according to the sunlight on either side of the car. Quite frankly, I'm not sure what benefits this brings, but it sounds like your system needs to be checked.
If you have two equally calibrated thermometers you could monitor the system yourself. One thermometer should monitor the temps coming out of the vents and the other should measure the temps in the car. Make sure that neither is exposed to direct sunlight. Keep a chart over a few days showing both measurements - note when it starts feeling humid and annotate both reading then too.
