transmission issue with 2013 rdx

Hello everyone, sorry about starting a new thread. i bought a used 2013 rdx with 74k miles and sometimes the transmission acts weird like a shudder.
i noticed it in the initial gears.the reason i am asking is because i have 3000k miles warranty and if this is something i should get checked at i will.
is this a common issue or normal for RDX?

thanks

It sounds as though your 13 RDX is behaving like our 13 RDX when we purchased earlier this year. Having a good bit of experience with Hondas and the issues they can have with both the transmissions and VCM system...I went ahead and performed a drain/fill x3 with Valvoline MaxLife synthetic ATF and added a S-VCM Controller. These 2 changes completely reversed the symptoms we were experiencing in our RDX.

Having said that, you have a warranty...take your RDX in and let them (hopefully it's a Acura or Honda dealership) document the symptoms and offer a solution. They'll probably offer to service the transmission. For your peace of mind...there's probably nothing wrong with your transmission that can't be addressed with an ATF/change of fluid and installation of a VCM deactivation device.

I suggest reading through this thread: 2013 RDX-TECH AWD - MaxLife ATF + S-VCM Controller

Are You sure You are not hearing and feeling the ECM shutting off cylinders to save fuel. Most noticeable at 29,39,49and 59 mph. When You give it gas, the shudder goes away.It takes some getting used to,at first. It is more noticeable in cold weather. This is known as variable cylinder management,VCM. Some have taken measures to deactivate the VCM.However, I have not heard of any damage done by keeping the VCM functional in 2nd generation RDX.I have 75,000 on My RDX and VCM is functional.
Wait till You test drive a 2019 RDX and the engine stops every time You stop at a stoplight and starts when You give it gas. lol
