Are these good tires to get?

Hello everybody,
I am nearing that time of ownership with my car where the tires will need to be replaced soon. I have been looking and noticed a promotion for Cooper Adventure H/T tires where it is buy 3 and get 1 free. I would end up paying for the tires and installation in New Hampshire, so it would cost me $635.93 in total. Should I pursue these tires, or does anyone else know of any sales/discounts going for other tires?

Are you sure they have your tire size in that model?

Can't comment on Coopers as I've never owned them. Currently there are some specials on Goodyear and Michelin and if you have or want to sign up for their credit cards there are addition incentives on those as well as Bridgestone, Firestone (Tire Rack credit card) and General (General Tire credit card). Scroll to the bottom of the www.tirerack.com home page to see the details.

Currently have BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT on the Mrs.16 Advance and have had no issue and/or complaints. I also looked for the model tire you called out and couldn't find it on the Tire Rack site.

Your choice, but I never cheap out on tires. I once did on my Honda CR-V and never again (Hankook at $59/tire from Tire Rack). Instead of using my brakes, I should have thrown out the boat anchor to stop. I'd sooner get a tire with less life, but one that stops.

I realize this is an SUV but your car is riding on them.

I feel like they seem to be really good tires for the money. I definitely am not gonna cheap out on tires, and I randomly caught this promotion the other day. I'm leaning towards it heavily.

I could not agree more, a very important component, if not the most important. I think the RDX came with Michelin Primacy MXM4's. I replaced them with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. First off, I think Michelin makes some of the best if not the best tires available. Secondly, I've had great success with LTX tires in regard to general traction in both wet and dry climates as well as extremely long tread life. The first set I bought years ago I drove to 80,000 miles on a larger SUV with plenty of tread life left, but because of their age, I bought a new set and was given credit for the tires I replaced.

My girlfriend got Starfire winter tires which is part of Cooper. And although I say "do not cheap out on tires", they were cheap and recommended by a long time tire shop in town. Besides, they are far better than her nearly worn out winter tires, plus she hardly puts any mileage on the car...maybe 3000 a year. Besides, if we are on the road going anywhere, we'll be in the RDX with either the OEM or my Continental Winter Extreme tires.

On the 911, I don't care what they cost. I am not going to stuff it into a guardrail just so I can save some $$$. Both cars are driven differently.

Exact same tires that came on my 2017. No issues with them that I can complain about (depends on the pavement...sometimes they can be noisy), but then I am not comparing them to ten other tires on the same day. Mind you, I am easy on the RDX.

I have a set winter tires, so when the all-seasons wear out, I might go with summer tires as a replacement.

Ironically my older daughter needed new tires to replace her Michelin Defenders and between her boyfriend and the shop they went to, they put Cooper tires on her CR-V. I don't remember the model, but they didn't wear well at all and she wound up putting another set of Michelin Defenders on her CR-V about 18 months later. So ultimately she wound up spending more money but I don't think she got a great deal on the Coopers to begin with.

Absolutely not saying you need to buy top shelf Michelin tires but there is a certain amount of you get what you pay for. Also as mentioned in this thread, you can have AWD, be turbocharged, have ABS, etc...., none of that matters if you don't have good tires on your vehicle. It's those 4 small patches of rubber that sit on the road surface that matter.

I've had good luck with Yokohamas for many years with many different vehicles. Michelin MXM's original tires on my RDX were OK, but nothing spectacular. They are nail magnets - each tire had at least one patch/plug in them by the time they were replaced.

I've been doing more research and saw the new Goodyear Reliant tires at walmart. They just released this spring and seem to have really good reviews. It would cost $452 to buy all 4 tires, and $71 to have them installed and balanced while keeping two tires. I'm gonna keep the two tires I have with some good tread left and try to sell them locally.

What's stopping you from going to the tirerack, looking at the tire tests and choosing the one that suits you best?

Personally, I wouldn't go with this model Cooper Tire for my RDX based on my driving. I tend to do all road driving and rarely go off road except gravel driveways. I would look for a tire designed for sedans or minivans.

I would say give these tires a try. They are likely decent tires and may fit your driving and budget. Ultimately that is what matters.

There is no such size on the official website https://coopertire.com/en-us/find-ti...enturer-ht-suv , perhaps this tire is no longer produced or the size is discontinued. The tread is very similar to an off-road tire so I dare assume it will be noisy. My opinion is this tire is not for RDX

The only tire I saw there that would work for me was Sumitomo. I can get the Goodyear tires I mentioned earlier and have them installed for over $100 less. I feel pretty comfortable getting them.

Japanese Sumitomo vs. American Goodyear. It's up to you to choose.

Just replaced the tires on my 16 RDX - went with the Primacy MXM4s. Michelins are pricey - but they make a quality tire. Also dont' overlook that these tires are your contact patch with the road.

I don't doubt that the Sumitomo tires are good, I'm just not familiar with them. Does anyone know how good they are?

You mean, has anyone ACTUALLY owned a set of these tires.

What did the Consumer Recommended reviews say on Tire Rack? Surely an owner can tell you a heck of a lot more than someone on here that has never owned a set. Also, just because a manufacturer generally makes a great tire, that may not apply to every model of tire that they make.

And have you looked at the Tire Rack Tested results?

Do the same for other tires and see what they say.

Never owned Sumitomo tires but as I eluded to above, I tend to rely on Tire Rack for research and advice.

If you aren't familiar with the Tire Rack site, this may help - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/surve...D&cameFrom=TSR

You can also change the tire category if you wish as well. The default category in the link above is Grand Touring All Season.

You can also use their tire decision guide to help you decide as well - https://www.tirerack.com/content/tir...ion_guide.html

I now own Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 tires for about 2 years and 30k miles, I put them instead my old 50k miles Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 plus, I found absolutely no difference other than the price.

I am going to pursue the Goodyear tires. I got an additional $10 off, so the total for the 4 tires came out to $442. Installation all together will cost like $73 since I will be keeping two tires and trying to sell them on the side. I looked at the reviews and there over 400 of them, and the average rating was 4.4 stars out of 5. I will keep you all posted on how I like the tires!

I called Walmart since my tires are ready to be installed, and learned that the auto center will be closed all of this week. I scheduled an appointment in two weeks, So I'll have to wait until then.

Seems odd to me. Did they tell you why they are closed this week? Labor shortage? Are they closed or just not have any appointments available this week? Maybe because of the predicted snow today has folks thinking about tires and batteries? Perhaps try another Walmart location?

I didn't ask, but now that I think about it I should've. Since there aren't any other Walmart auto centers near me, I have no choice but to wait.

Okay - not sure how bad off your tires are and how long you can wait - I know you said you have no choice. Please also keep in mind that your appointment in two weeks is the week prior to Christmas, so if it is labor related folks might be looking to take some PTO.

I was able to get my new tires installed yesterday, and I am very happy with them right now. It only took Walmart an hour to put them on, and my car drives so much better now (it doesn't pull to the right anymore and drives better overall). I could tell my old tires were pretty much done, and so far these tires are awesome for the price.

Believe he went with these - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-...mpaign_id=9383

They look to be a Walmart exclusive tire.

Yup they are a Walmart exclusive. They released them a bit earlier this year.
