Seat Cover Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good seat cover for the driver and passenger seat? I primarily want one for the driver seat since thats the seat that is used most often. I just got my new RDX and would like to start early with helping protect the leather as well as cleaning/conditioning ect..

I want to try and do what I can to prevent the leather from cracking over time as I get in and out, especially on the left edge of the driver side

I can't help with the front seats. But we bought the rear seat cover from the factory and it fits fantastically.

Its great with the dog in the back.

My first new leather-seated vehicle got a sheepskin driver's seat cover(many years ago); but I've become a towel guy since. Easy to swap out...easy to remove when you want the 'factory' appearance. I also have a micro-fiber pool chaise cover that I put in place after sweaty bike rides. Again, easy to remove and clean, easy stow away. I don't remember the name, but BedBathandBeyond had them on clearance. Looks like a giant ShamWow but with pockets and a 'hood' to go over the top of the headrest. No worries about sweating onto the seat, not even the head restraint.

Here's a similar chaise cover...needless to say, it doesn't stay on the seat on a daily basis ...
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/1/1/...turquoise.html

I've also noticed just a small difference in seat height can make a big difference in how much my legs/rear rub across the left bolster when entering/exiting the vehicle. As you mention, this will be the first area to fail, most likely. Since the steering wheel doesn't move up and away like the Lexus, the lower seat position gives more room between the wheel and the seat, making it easier to enter/exit without dragging across the bolster.

I think the rear seat cover is a great idea, especially with pets in the back. However, covering the front seats with a 'permanent' cover somewhat defeats the purpose of having nice leather...hence the easily removed towel(matching color, of course ).

I know what you mean. Between the 'grabby' leather and the perfs, I think the front seats are going to take a beating over time.

Although protecting the outside of the leather seats from the driver constantly getting in and out of the vehicle, wouldn't the added pressure of the foam material between you and the seat actually cause stress marks to appear faster on the left seat bolster? Or I guess it all depends on how you sit.

I too am a towel guy, mainly if wearing blue jeans to protect the tan leather. It is very difficult to find good looking and fitting front seat covers anymore because of the front seat side airbags. Finally, although I am very careful to keep my cars nice as I keep them a long time, at some point you have to own your possessions instead of your possessions owning you.

Is there a cover for just the bottom half of the seat instead of the whole seat? do they make those?

im just using the mat for now, some protection is better than none i guess. I have a black towel I could use as well

With almost 3K on my parchment interior I am starting to notice some faint color change on the seat bottom, hence why I quoted dc5k20z1's last post.

ANYONE have any input or suggestions here for the seat bottom or the entire seat?

I bought this for my drivers seat (bottom seat cover) and couldnt be happier, just view other items for sale by that same user (cassina177). They have more to offer as well as different colors. I cleaned and conditioned my drivers seat really well before I put it on and plan to buy one for the passenger seat eventually. You get a better deal if you buy the 3pc (driver, passenger, console cover) or 2 pc (driver, passenger). I only opted to buy 1 because I was not sure about the product. So far so good. I like it because it does not cover the whole seat, just the bottom. And no interference with seat airbags

They sell on ebay as well as their website.

And there we go ........

dc5 thx. much for the detailed reply, I appreciate it as the area it covers is what I was looking for. It also appears from their WS that they have done their homework w/ the variety of products they offer.

How long have you had this in use & could you PM me w/ how you prepped the bottom portion of your seat before your install?

I've had it for about almost 2 weeks and its really holding up well. My main concern was protecting the bolster right above the power seat controls. Getting in and out of the car was causing that leather bolster to start cracking from my jeans

I cleaned the whole seat with Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner then followed with Meguiars gold class rich leather cleaner and conditioner (pump). I focused more on the bottom part of the seat where my ass goes. After cleaning the seat, it looked good as new. Then I just put the seat cover on. I used microfiber cleaning cloths as well. I figured I would clean the seat and condition it real good since the cover would help keeping the seat clean anyway.

I just followed the directions on the bottles of the cleaners and conditioners

Well I Owe dc5 a TY 2X Now

First, thx young lady for the seat cleaning/prep reply & secondly for the tip re. Dave's Komfy Covers. I ordered the bottom seat cover as that should meet most of my concerns, received it promptly from Dave & even was able to speak w/ him on the ph. when I had an order question.

All in all, this seems to be a good value for the $ spent, YMMV as always & thx again for the input dc5, I owe ya one.

Installation was super easy, you just have to route the elastic bands through the back of the seat, hard to explain.... I'll get some pics up by this weekend. I have been meaning to take some pics of my car ever since I picked it up in December

I bought the simplest Komfy Cover for my 2013 RDX...ie there
is no pad under the cover.

The bottom line is that it does not fit properly, it is a bit too small.

I probably will start looking for a sheepskin

Let me look in the file as the color I chose (seat bottom only) is close enough to my parchment & I have been known to be a tad OC.

Also, the website and ebay links don't mention supporting the _2013_ RDX. I suppose the old size from 1st gen works fine in our 2nd gens ?

Here ya go .......

I went w/ tan & yes the 1st gen fits just fine IMO. I would encourage you to open an account there, it's easy & allows you to track/change the order should you have any issues. Also note Dave's ph. # is posted on the WS & he answered it the one time I did a telcon w/ him.

Analog correct that is what I bought, mine was in tan.

Remember that my experiences are but a sample of one. That said I am glad I got it, no regrets thus far.

I got my komfy cover today and it's just ... meh. I wish the material was a nice micro-fiber type material instead of this fuzzy stuff. I haven't bothered installing it because it looks like a pain having to go under the seat.

- back right and back left have 2 elastic bands each, route the inner band of the two through the crevice in the seat so you can grab it in the back. Once you get it through and can feel it through the back hold it or do whatever, but try not to let it come back out.
- move each set all the way forward
- Next route the outer band of the two over the power seat controls down to the floor, then under the frame of the seat, connect the inner and outer together on each back side (right and left)
- move each seat all the way back
- connect the two front elastic bands together

should take you 5-10 minutes tops

Its just a cover to help protect your seat. The fabric does not bother me at all because its doing its job by helping protect your leather. Plus your ass is sitting on it so "looks" or feel should not really matter.

I did not buy the 1" padding seat cover. Just the fleece type with a water repellant material underneath

Ok, I got the same cover in tan. I got it on now, thanks to your instructions. It's not bad. I think I'll order another for the passenger seat. Do you also have the console cover? Is it worth getting?

no prob, im undecided on the console cover. The front seats get more used than the console so protecting those a little bit was priority

Do they Fit the 2013 and 2014

A few people suggested these seat covers in a few threads above however, on the company's website, the 2nd generation is not available from the drop down box.

Has anyone purchased the covers and do they fit on the 2013 or 2014 RDX??

Is there another company people have used for the 2013 and 2014 that would fit the seats?

HC per my post two above, it is installed in my 2013 RDX, ordered direct from their WS & even was able to get Dave (owner of the co.) on the ph. for a quick question on my FIRST attempt. Again HTH, feel free to email/PM me w/ additional questions & as always YMMV.

Sorry, I didn't read the post b4..

Did you remove the foam from the seat cover? I don't want to sit too high and I still want to feel the heat from the seats when I put on the heated seats.

My question is, I just want a cover and do not want to use the foam, do you think this would be the best option or is there another brand that would work?

HC no worries re. reading the post, it's all good.

I left the seat cover intact, just as I ordered it, no changes & the foam height is negligible, not an issue. As far as the *best* option, my goal was to protect the parchment (tan) leather from discoloring, as most tan seat interiors will do w/ time. To date, my decision to use this cover has been a good one, no regrets but again YMMV as always.

YMMV = your mileage may vary.

In MY experience riding up of the seat cover is not an issue.
