it all depends. Many long time Acura followers feel that Acura will make little or no changes from 2014 to 2015 because they typically go 3 years without changes. Others who have non-luxury vehicles with greater features hope for features to be added.
Honda reported sales figures yesterday and the RDX and MDX were up over 10% year over year. Of course, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Lexus all saw similar sales growth. It may be a factor of the marketplace changing from buyers to leasees for such continuous growth across the industry.

I don't think Acura will make any major changes on the 15 RDX. The RDX has very strong sales numbers in a single year which are 2X-4X higher compared to the 07-12 RDX in a single year. I can see them adding some features on the +16 model to keep up with the competition; but, still below what you can get with an MDX base/tech model.
Features like direct injection engine, HID/fogs standard, sh-awd option, or an Advance model would be too close to the MDX models. I would be looking for a used 2014 MDX tech before I look at a new 2015-2016 RDX tech.

Unless something goes terribly wrong with my 2014, I don't intend on replacing it for a very long time. If I don't get at least 100,000 miles out of a vehicle, I feel like I was wasteful.
(The Highlander I traded for the RDX had close to 200,000!)
Mrs. DAVISinLA will probably soon be trading her 2000 TL - it's got 154,000 miles!

That is the main reason I went with a 2011 MDX Adv/Ent for up to $20,000 cheaper compared to 13 MDX or all new 14 MDX model. The "best thing" and at the same time the "worst thing" about Acura's are they make the best used cars.

I am looking for a new car this year but doubt the RDX will be my choice since I want certain features like LED DRLs, parking assist, BLIS, lane keeping, and collision monitors. The RAV4, Cherokee, and others that are non-Lexury offer these.

It's clear the RDX engineers haven't been working hard on mid-cycle updates. So how is it they have yet to address the rear suspension issue? After all, it sounds like they should have plenty of time on their hands. Have they even issued a TSB yet?

Anybody hear from a dealer yet what the new exterior color is for the 2015 RDX and what interior colors will be offered with it? Color is not mentioned in the 2015 RDX press release from Acura. Nothing else may change (except slight bump in price), but I noticed that they seem to cycle one color in and out each year. That color was Amber Brownstone in 2013 which was replaced by the Kona Coffee Metallic for 2014. We really liked the Amber Brownstone, but the Kona Coffee Metallic was God awful. Was hoping they would take a cue from the MDX and make the new 2015 color the Forest Mist Metallic exterior with the Eucalypus interior.

Anyone who buys the 2015 RDX is going to be very disappointed when Acura updates everything on the 2016 RDX.
The navigation map and traffic coverage will probably be the same system used in the MDX and RLX, and the new AcuraLink. They'll probably even add the touch screen and LED lights all around too. Maybe even lane change and lane departure, etc.

I am dumbfounded by that. The problem is well known, and it sounds like most dealers are attempting to address the problem under warranty. Yet the lack of TSB indicates Honda refuses to take any formal action, or even officially acknowledge the problem. There is no safety issue, so a recall simply won't happen. But even GM would have issued a TSB by now. As disappointed as I am with my BMW experience, I am so glad I didn't buy the RDX and don't have to deal with this clunking suspension issue. Acura management really has their heads up their collective a$$es on this one.
Sorry for the ranting hijack. I keep hoping Acura is going to step up and do the right thing to win me back as a customer. Instead they keep pushing me further away.

Agree
Argh... When the TLX comes out and there are problems then I guess we can expect the same run around. I'm with you.. I'll wait for someone else to be the TLX beta tester.

Acura is just being conservative. I was at the NY Auto Show talking to the Acura guy. When I asked about the Escape and Cherokee as non-luxury vehicles having features that Acura does not he explained the MMC cycle of Acura. Basically they don't want to make any significant changes until the MMC unless there is a safety reason to do so. As a salesperson he tried to talk up the MDX with all these features.
As for the dual exhaust I can't cry over this since it is a style choice. The Lexus RX and Hyundai Sonata have hidden the exhaust tips too.
I am dissappointed with the lack of safety upgrades since I saw on Edmunds news that the Chevy Sonic is getting lane departure and collision warning systems amongst other non-lexury vehicles having these features and more that aren't available in the RDX.
I saw the MDX up close with the Jewel headlights and it looked really good. There was very little buzz by the Acura area compared to Audi, BMW, and a little bit by Lexus. No swarms around the TLX at all but you couldn't get near many of the Audi's. Then again most of the Audi's were the SQ or IS models. As comparison, Lincoln and Infiniti were in a back corner next to Cadillac and BMW and were even more empty than Acura.
Acura probably needs to work on their marketing since it is not considered in the same class as Lexus in people's minds although it is when comparing vehicles using a tool like Edmunds new car compare. They probably need a guy like Don Draper from Mad Men.
Here is a You tube commercial posted by Lexus last night. You can see they are going to market to hip and professional audience:

Acura seems to be more of a different trim level of Honda instead of a separate luxury brand standing on its own. It kinda burns me that the Honda Accord has updated tech and more features not standard on Acura vehicles.

After doing a lot of research I decided on the 2015 rdx awd with tech thinking that for a couple of hundred dollars more than the 2014 it would be a wise purchase considering resale value. After reading some of these posts I'm not sure anymore. I love the Audi Q5 but don't think it's worth more than $10,000 above the rdx not to mention cost of ownership. Wondering now if I should reconsider the 2o14 rdx. Any suggestions?

you guys got it all wrong.... Acura is selling the RDX like hotcakes and by FAR the most popular model is the base AWD. Just take a look at local dealer inventories and you will see they have more base model on hand than tech model. People simply just don't want the tech... especially older folks.

Did you not like the 2015 Lincoln MKC while researching? The MKC and what it offers luxury, tech and saftey wise blows the RDX away. I am very disappointed in Acura and how much they lag the competition in even basic features now, not to mention upscale items. I want one vehicle that looks good, has AWD, gets decent mileage and offers the latest safety and tech features avail. with some luxury thrown in. Don't need a 3rd row. I am researching only right now but so far, MKC is my number 1 choice based on what I value. Don't get me wrong, always had a soft spot for Acura but feel they are seriously lagging the competition. Maybe 2016 or 2017 will be the year they get back in the game in the small SUV segemnt...I can't wait that long.
As for Engines:
Acura - 270ish HP and 255ish torque
Lincoln - 230ish HP and 270ish torque

Pricing can be a consideration. The Lincoln loaded up with the options may be more than a tech AWD RDX. A fully loaded 2.0 Ecoboost awd MKC MSRP's for about 47k. The RDX per the Acura site AWD tech version is 39,995. Even if they come out with an advanced version next year it may be only 4-5k more than today's price and cheaper than Lincoln.

Interesting...I actually just found a '13 tech going for $31K with 17k miles....only issue is its being sold by a Chevy dealer. Now I am wondering if I should stick to your logic and wait until they come out with the 2016s to buy a cheaper 13/14. I love my '09 TSX but my toddler barely has any legroom with the carseat.
#36
^^ The decision will never get easier and you will always be chasing that elusive "best vehicle for the price" game. THere are some decent deals to be had on a used '13 RDX because the owners have taken the depreciation hit (like I did with mine.....someone will be getting a 13 RDX with about 10 000 km that has never seen a drop of rain/snow for a VERY good price!). My advice is that if you are going to go new, might as well wait for the MMC but if you are going to get the current version (pre MMC), might as well try and a good deal on a used one....unless you like to get that new car smell.

Not going new and mos. def. no new car smell, ....if the '13 is still available this Friday (dealer is 5 hrs away from me and I'll visiting family on Saturday) I think I'll take my chance with it. They just lowered the price by $4K so chances are someone else might grab it before the week ends. Wish I could buy yours!

The RDX has been on my radar for a while, but in this bracket I can't help but gravitate to the 2014 GC. The exterior/interior/tech are all phenomenal for the price. Even the resale is amazing. In a world of cross-overs/SUVs I find the GC the most masculine looking of the bunch. V8 availability doesn't hurt either
