Passenger Mirror "Thunking" 2014 Tech
Hi all - recently, the passenger mirror "thunks" when it moves up and down. This is pretty noticeable because it adjusts down every time the car is put in reverse, then up again when shifting to drive.
I can see visually that the mirror is vibrating when this happens - it's like a slow 4-5 "thunk thunk thunk" when it rotates down, then the same when rotating up.
I'm guessing there is a broken gear in the motor / mirror adjustment mechanism. Is there any way to address this, other than buying a new mirror / repainting to match the car?
Thanks
Eric

I think the mirror comes in several parts, one does not have to buy the whole thing. If this link works, it is the mirror section on Bernadi Acura.
https://acura.bernardiparts.com/Acur...&assembly=7269
That is in the Interior/Bumper section. If you want or need to replace the whole mirror, they come already painted.
If you want to make it stop thunking in the meantime, set the left/right mirror control to the center position. This keeps the mirrors from tilting down in reverse.
You can also try operating the mirror all the way up, holding the control and then all the way down hold the control and see if it is just off somehow. I know this is
often necessary after the mirror has been moved by hand, like when washing.

I also didn't realize the mirror didn't cycle down in reverse, if the switch is in the middle position. Good tip, thanks again!
