OEM all weather mat vs Weathertech

Not quite sure if anybody have experience to both? I have weathertech before and love it. However, it is more expensive than OEM. If it is no better than OEM, I don't see why not trying OEM. Your opinion?

The general consensus seems to be that WeatherTech fits better.

I live in the southwest and we are lucky to get 5-8 inches of snow during the fall-spring months. I went OEM all weather on all 3 vehicles because of a lot of sand, goat head stickers, light snow/showers, and tar/gum issues year round. I also have sport pedals on all three vehicles and the weathertech would covered the dead pedal too much for my taste. So far, all mats are holding up just fine (TSX 9yrs, RDX 6yrs, MDX 4yrs).

I can really see the value of weathertech if you get all 4 seasons with a lot of snow/mud and kids. I would go with weathertech if you live with those conditions. I would dump the carpet mats and go all weather because the car stays a lot cleaner, looks pretty good, and the interior doesn't have those strange smells only co-workers can smell.

Makes perfect sense. While the Weathertechs may be a bit better (I've had weathertech in my previous cars), the OE mats are perfectly fine and can often be gotten as freebies as part of a sale.

Thanks guys. I have Weathertech before and happy with it. But price is a bit stiff. Just wonder if OEM all weather mat is equal in fit and quality. Time to spend money now. Winter is soon be here, so just prepare for it.

when I had the RDX I found that if you drag your foot on the sill when getting in, the OEM rubber side tends to fold over easily....

Does anybody know if there's a difference between the 2013-15 all weather mats and the 2016 mats? I see different part numbers

Put me down as VERY dissatisfied with Weathertech. The cargo mat I got from them is curled up at the edges, moves around, and is never in its "proper" place. It may fit well, but what good is that if it doesn't stay put. I'm very sorry I didn't go with the OEM mat.

It was probably shipped all bent up. You should've just tried to fold it the other way or something. My OEM all-weather mats have none of that rubbing issue nor does it move around.

I've always been a huge fan of oem mats, for their proper fitment, as opposed to shitty, generic sized aftermarket mats. However, then Weathertech came along and rocked the floor mat world.

They. Are. The. Best.

The high sidewalls are absolutely amazing for keeping water trapped that oem mats sometimes end up spilling, and the mats seem to fit slightly better than oem mats (I sometimes find oem mats end in a weird way, leaving a small piece of carpet exposed by the dead pedal, or similar).

Although not cheap, if I'm not mistaken, the Weathertechs are about the same price as oem mats. Definitely worth it. I find they're easier to clean also, as opposed to the soft rubber oem mats, which eventually get stained with dirt/mud and can never really be cleaned to perfection again.

Agreed. Weathertech mats are also less likely to wear. In city driving I tend to pivot on my heel between gas and brake pedals. This wore a hole in an OEM rubber mat, but the Weathertech replacement had no problem with that.

For a 2016 RDX, Weathertech digital fit floor liners are $180 for the full set, versus Acura's $160 list. Note that Weathertech has two products: liners and mats. You'll want liners, since the mats are just flat, without the built-up sides.

I've read some discussion elsewhere regarding the same issue. The mats are different to accommodate for the ? different power seat specifications in 2016 version. Someone bought the 2013-15 and it didn't fit on the front passenger side.

Well, Weathertech including shipping is almost $200. OEM on eBay or Amazon including shipping is $130-$140. Also notice that OEM is black only. But weathertech offers beige which matches Acura parchment interior color.

WeatherTech laser cut work better for me. The OEMs are just not the same grade of material and do have a tendency to fold/collapse at the same point in different vehicles (08 CSX as well as the RDX).

I detail cars and see Weathertechs and oem mats all the time. Weathertech's do their job but look cheap and the logo eventually always falls off. Never had issues with my oem mats in any of my vehicles. Over time they both wear out.

Does anyone know if the 2013 RDX weathertech floor mats will fit in the '16 RDX? Asking because I am getting rid of my 13' RDX due to a car accident I was in...$20,000 in repairs. Drunk driver hit my car and took off (hit and run)!

When you go to order for the '16 it asks you if you have 8 way power on the passenger seat. This would seem to indicate that there are two versions of mats for '16. Save the mats and use or sell/dispose depending on fit.

This has been discussed already and it seems only the fronts will fit but the rear won't. Might as well get your mats and sell them to find your new set.

Glad you're ok!

Ok great thanks. At the moment I just have WeatherTech front mats so I guess I should be good to go for reusing them.

Yeah no injuries from the accident but will be starting fresh again with a new '16 RDX because of it.

eBay currently has $20 off coupon cmotors1115. So OEM is now just $110 including shipping.

Just adding my vote.
I have never had Weathertech, but instead of OEM/Acura all-weather mats in my 2013 Acura RDX. I have zero complaints with them. I've never had a problem with them "leaking" or moving or curling. I would definitely buy again. It would be hard for me to see how other mats would be better than the OEM mats in my RDX.

My OEM all-weather mats fit decent. The sides need to be outwardly stiffer to stay against to side rather than droop toward the drivers feet. The last WTs I had were on a truck and there is no recessed area so hard to compare fit. The material of OEM is more rubbery and is harder to clean than WT IMHO.

I have to agree. It's more difficult to clean. I used magic black to clean instead of of just water with Weathertech.
